A big thank you to Gemma from Thistle and Sketch for leading a lovely, relaxed evening of painting for our family carers. 🎨✨

Organised by Sarah Wagstaff, our Carers Manager, the session was a wonderful opportunity for carers to take some time for themselves, switch off from day-to-day pressures and be fully present in the moment.

As well as getting creative, carers had the chance to relax, unwind and connect with others who understand the experiences and challenges of caring for a loved one with a learning disability.

Some holidays are about the destination. This one was all about the people, but the gorgeous scenery didn't hurt!

📢 Join the Reach Southwell team! We're looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and hardworking Project Co-ordinator/Classroom Assistant to help support adults with learning disabilities at our Reach Southwell centre.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll support activities, work alongside tutors, provide one-to-one and group support, and help people achieve their goals, build confidence and enjoy fulfilling days.

🌻 Meet the newest addition to Flower Pod Southwell... The Scarecrow! 🌻
Made almost entirely from materials grown, harvested or repurposed at Flower Pod, this fantastic creation showcases the creativity and skills of the people we support.

🌿 The body was made from a willow bouquet
🥔 Hessian sacks were used for clothing
🌸 The skirt was created from beautiful flowers
🪵 A tree that needed removing was used to make the wooden base
☀️ The willow sun was woven from harvested willow

Over recent months, clients have been learning willow weaving techniques, making the sun and the scarecrow's body were a fantastic achievement and a wonderful example of skills development in action.

We were delighted to take our scarecrow to the Southwell Ploughing Match, where it was awarded second place! 🏆

The judges commented: "Beautiful arrangement of the flowers, lovely use of autumnal colours and a cheeky hint of blush!"

Well done everyone! 🌻🍂💛
