A quick little update of what has been happening - Mat has built and installed a new section to stop cars driving down to the family and friends section. The gap is wider than the public footpath that runs over the private land so is still plenty accessible for mobility scooters, wheelchairs, pushchairs etc. We are struggling with some of the authorities for the gates that we wanted to stop the motorbikes and quads but it should stop the worries people had about cars driving down this section and churning it up when we get back to the sludgier parts of the year.
The breeding pond was dug out when the water was low... aaaand we underestimated it π. So we've used the extra tonnes of mud that we had to raise the surround, built a fence around to protect it. Some more struts in the middle and covering to protect from the inevitable willow falls, and that will be complete too.
Our geese visitors have disappeared, the swans are still coming on the river and the lakes though.
We have lots of deer activity around the lakes on the wildlife cameras and seen in the evenings.
Harry, Max and Digby have been great helping hands over the last couple of weeks. Digby is currently working on his DofE award so being at land will count towards that too :).
And Mat went and landed himself a 16lb 8oz Trent carp once it had cooled down in the evening.
