πŸ“’ Wash Common Recreation Ground Car Park Update

Newbury Town Council is exploring options to reopen the Wash Common Recreation Ground car park through a community-led gate management scheme.

We are looking for local volunteers who may be able to help open and close the gate on a regular basis. If enough support can be found, managed access to the car park could be restored while helping to reduce anti-social behaviour.

Interested in volunteering or finding out more? Please contact Newbury Town Council at [email protected]

Thank you for your continued patience and support.

A wonderful turnout today for the unveiling of Newbury Town Council’s 22nd Blue Plaque, commemorating Elliotts of Newbury, one of the town’s most significant employers from 1875 to 1974.

The plaque, unveiled by the Mayor of Newbury, Cllr Jo Day, at Bond House on Strawberry Hill, honours a company whose contribution to both Newbury and the nation was remarkable. From furniture manufacturing to producing ammunition boxes, aircraft components and Horsa gliders during two World Wars, Elliotts played a vital role in our town’s history and the national war effort.

Thank you to everyone who attended the ceremony, to Fortem Property Management Ltd for hosting the plaque, and to the Newbury Society for its continued support of the Blue Plaque scheme.
