Bring a picnic, grab a seat and enjoy the sounds of this brilliant local brass band in the beautiful surroundings of Victoria Park. 🌳🎶

BODIN GARDENS PLAYGROUND TEMPORARILY CLOSED 🚧

Bodin Gardens Playground has been temporarily closed following significant vandalism to the safety surfacing and fencing, which has unfortunately made the playground unsafe for use.

We know this will be disappointing for local families, particularly while Dickens Walk Playground is also closed for refurbishment. Dickens Walk is expected to remain closed until October, while Hamilton Court Playground remains open.

Newbury Town Council is also progressing plans to refurbish Bodin Gardens Playground, with works currently anticipated for spring 2027, subject to procurement and budget availability. Planned improvements include new safety surfacing and fencing, with additional play equipment also being considered.

The vandalism has been reported to the police. If you have any information that could help identify those responsible, please call Thames Valley Police on 101, or report it online.

You can also provide information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Please help us look after our local play areas and report any vandalism or anti-social behaviour. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to progress the necessary repairs and improvements.

We will provide further updates when more information is available.

🌳🏆 GREEN FLAG SUCCESS FOR NEWBURY! 🏆🌳

We’re delighted to announce that both Victoria Park and City Recreation Ground have retained their prestigious Green Flag Awards for 2026/27! 🎉

Victoria Park has held Green Flag status since 2019, while City Recreation Ground has now achieved the award for the fourth consecutive year. 💚

Judges praised Victoria Park’s environmental commitment, vibrant planting, historic bandstand and the welcoming, inclusive space it provides for the whole community.

A huge thank you to our dedicated parks team and contractors, John O’Conner Grounds Maintenance Ltd, for helping to maintain and enhance these much-loved green spaces. 🌿

And, of course, thank you to everyone who visits, enjoys and helps make our parks such an important part of Newbury. 💚
