A beautiful trip to Provence follow by a night in old town Nice. Lots of places I’d never been to before and I’d love to go back to. Highlights included:

Last night, I won the Cookery Book Award at the Guild of Food Writers Awards 2026, the most prestigious food writing prize in the UK. I still can’t believe I won.

The Guild has been celebrating the very best in food writing since 1984, with hundreds of entries every year. To be recognised amongst that calibre of work really means a lot. There were a lot of inspiring figures in the room!

I’m pretty sure I’m the first person from Newcastle to bring one of these home. Thank you to everyone who has supported this book, eaten at my restaurants, and believed in what I do.
