Are you up for fun, adventure, incredible experiences and making new friends? Are you looking for something to give you the edge in life? Then welcome to the Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC). Better known as the 'Air Cadets', we’re a UK-wide cadet force with more than 40,000 members aged between 12 and 20 years. We're sponsored by the Royal Air Force and can give you hands-on experience of activ

ities and courses that will challenge and develop your skills to help you succeed in whatever you want to do. As a cadet you'll have the opportunity to do things that others only dream about. Want real flight experience? No problem. How about heading out on adventurous training and camps, sometimes overseas? Normal for cadets. Competitive sports, drill, shooting, music, abseiling, engineering projects? Our list of activities is long, varied and open to all cadets. Yes it's a challenge, but that's what life's all about. Let's face it - where else would you be given the opportunity to fly solo in a glider or powered aircraft when you're 17? Whatever you do with your life, at the end of your time as a cadet you'll be self-motivated, confident and ready for anything.

Annual Formal Inspection ✨

Last month 733 Squadron had our annual inspection!

The squadron took part in a parade which was reviewed by Deputy Officer Commanding Durham Northumberland Wing Air Cadets, Sqn Ldr Burton and Deputy Wing Warrant Officer, WO Rogerson-Parkin.

Sqn Ldr Burton spoke to all of the cadets on parade as well as holding an open forum with the squadron staff and Civilian Committee, providing us with key wing level updates and answering any questions.

Congratulations to every single cadet on parade, you did yourselves and 733 proud! We are thrilled to have come away with a Gold Award ⭐️

⭐️ LORD LIEUTENANT’S CADET ⭐️

Last week we had the pleasure of watching CWO Hagen Buzzeo be appointed as one of the 2026 Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets (LLC) for Tyne & Wear.

Ms Lucy Winskell, Lord Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear, appointed CWO Buzzeo alongside her other LLCs from the cadet forces for the year.

Congratulations CWO Buzzeo, we can’t wait to see where being the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet takes you over the next year!

⛑️ First Aid Training

Congratulations to Sgt Lawrence who completed an Activities First Aid course last weekend!

Regulated by St John’s Ambulance, the course covers a huge range of first aid topics, from allergic reactions, chest pains, CPR, spinal injuries and many more.

Sgt Lawrence passed the course and is now the proud owner of a Silver First Aid badge! Well done!

Last night some of our cadets and staff team welcomed our new Officer Commanding, Flt Lt Whisson!

Our outgoing OC, Flt Lt Dolphin is moving to an instructor role with North Region SATT

Flt Lt Whisson joins us after seven years in command at 346 Tynemouth Sqn ATC and says “I’m looking forward to joining 733 Squadron as their OC and carrying on the work done by Flt Lt Dolphin and the wider staff team. 733 Sqn is one which has always had a record of success and I’ll be aiming to continue this into the future”

First Flights of 2026! ✈️

Cdt Atkinson, Cdt Denham and Cdt Yang recently visited 9/11 AEF, based at RAF Leeming to take to the skies.

Unfortunately poor weather meant an early end to flying, but we’ll be back soon for another chance! However our cadets did get the opportunity to watch multiple RAF aircraft in the air ✈️
