Pets Corner closures for improvement works 🛠

Pets Corner will be closed for the next two weekends and Monday to Friday for around 10 weeks while we carry out essential maintenance and make improvements to the animal habitats. This will include enhancing the enclosures for our rabbits and guinea pigs and preparing a brand-new space for an exciting new arrival next year.

The animals will be safely relocated to temporary enclosures and will continue to be well cared for throughout the work.

The work is just the latest in a series of exciting improvements to Pets Corner, following the recent opening of the new-look play area with even more new arrivals and visitor experiences coming soon. 🐰🐹✨

Take a trip down Christmas memory lane! ✨🎄

Remember the excitement of circling toys in the Christmas catalogue? The magic of childhood decorations? Or the anticipation of Christmas morning?

This winter, you can relive those memories as Northern Lights Newcastle returns to Leazes Park with a nostalgic new theme - A Christmas Time Machine! 🎅

Running from 20 November to 31 December, this magical mile-long trail will take visitors of all ages on a journey through Christmases past, bringing much-loved toys, festive traditions and childhood memories to life through spectacular light, music and interactive installations.

And there's plenty to look forward to! 👀

🌈 Step into a colourful sixties-inspired dream at Lava Lamp Lane.

🧸 See giant childhood toys, including a rainbow Slinky and dazzling kaleidoscope arches.

🎄 Dance your way through Disco Wonderland and put your best moves to the test at Nutcracker Salute.

📖 Rediscover the magic of The Night Before Christmas with a giant illuminated storybook.

🎁 Peek inside North Pole Parcel Post and see the elves hard at work preparing for the big day!

There's even a very special Christmas catalogue brought to life with drawings by young patients from the Great North Children's Hospital. ❤️

Whether you're bringing the little ones, sharing childhood memories with loved ones or simply looking to get into the festive spirit, there's something for everyone.

What a day as festival continues to grow! 💚🌻

We had a fantastic day at the Newcastle Allotment & Garden Festival! 🌱

A huge thank you to the thousands of people who came along to Exhibition Park and helped make this year’s festival such a brilliant celebration of growing, gardening, food, nature and community. 🥕🌸🎶

From exploring the stalls and enjoying the music, to getting involved in workshops, talks, wellbeing sessions and activities – it was wonderful to see so many of you enjoying everything the festival had to offer.

And a special thank you to everyone who entered our competitions! 🏆🌻 We had over 250 entrants in our produce competitions! There were some fantastic entries and we hope you enjoyed showing off your growing, gardening and creative talents.

We’d also like to say a massive thank you to all the traders, performers, speakers, community groups, volunteers and everyone behind the scenes who helped bring the festival to life. 👏

You helped make it a day to remember.

TAKE A LITTLE TIME FOR YOU 🌿💚

Gardening is good for the soul – but there are plenty of other ways to relax, recharge and reconnect at the Newcastle Allotment & Garden Festival.

We’ve got a whole programme of FREE wellbeing sessions taking place at Exhibition Park, giving you the chance to slow down, breathe, stretch, explore and simply enjoy being outdoors. 🌳✨

What’s a festival without a little shopping? 👀

The Newcastle Allotment & Garden Festival is bringing together a brilliant mix of local traders and community organisations at Exhibition Park on Sunday 6 September.

Fancy something tasty? 🌮🥟🍰 You’ll find everything from pasties, kimchi and pickles to artisan doughnuts, bakes, chilli crisp and more.

Looking for something to take home? 🌿✨ There’ll be plants, tea, jewellery, crafts, clothing and plenty of other goodies to browse.

And it’s not just about shopping. You can meet local community groups, find out more about allotments and growing, discover wildlife and nature organisations, learn about food security – and even get your face painted! 🎨🐝

With Urban Park Market bringing the traders together and Wylam Brewery back with their bar, there’ll be plenty of reasons to have a wander around. 🍻

The Newcastle Allotment & Garden Festival has a brilliant programme of FREE workshops and demonstrations taking place throughout the day – and there’s something for curious gardeners, nature lovers and anyone who enjoys learning something new.

🍯 1.30pm – Enjoy a fascinating honey tasting with Dr Michael Richardson

🌱 3pm – Explore how microbiomes support both healthy soil and healthy people with Nourish the Wild

We’re counting down to the Newcastle Allotment & Garden Festival – and it wouldn’t be a festival without some live music! 🎤🎸

As you wander around Exhibition Park on Sunday 6 September, you’ll be able to enjoy live performances from some brilliant local artists, adding the perfect soundtrack to a day of gardening, growing, food, family fun and plenty of inspiration.

So whether you’re a seasoned allotment pro, a gardening newbie, or just fancy a great day out, there’s plenty to get you tapping your toes to. 💃🕺

Those who will be performing are North Tyneside Steelband, Ellington Colliery Brass Band and Voice of the Town.

A week to go! 📆

With a jam-packed programme of talks, hands-on workshops, live music and entertainment there’s something for everyone to get stuck into at the Newcastle Allotment & Garden Festival 2026! 🌿 🍅

We’re delighted to have an array of local experts, groups and independent businesses join us in Exhibition Park this year to celebrate growing, sustainability and wellbeing.

The festival is a celebration of allotments, gardening and growing, sustainability and wellbeing, with the one-day event transforming one of Newcastle’s most popular parks into a hub of creativity, activity, and connection with nature in the heart of the city.

It is open 11am - 4pm next Sunday (6th September) and entry is totally FREE!
