TAKE A LITTLE TIME FOR YOU 🌿💚

Gardening is good for the soul – but there are plenty of other ways to relax, recharge and reconnect at the Newcastle Allotment & Garden Festival.

We’ve got a whole programme of FREE wellbeing sessions taking place at Exhibition Park, giving you the chance to slow down, breathe, stretch, explore and simply enjoy being outdoors. 🌳✨

🔔 11.30am – Sound healing with Jacqui
🦋 12pm – Guided wildlife walk with Wild Intrigue
☯️ 12.30pm – Tai Chi with Wendy Chan
🌱 1.30pm – Guided walk with Nourish the Wild
🧘 1.45pm – Family-friendly yoga with Gayle
🧘‍♀️ 3pm – Meditation

Whether you fancy discovering more about the natural world, trying Tai Chi or yoga, or simply finding a peaceful moment in your day, there’s something to help you feel good.

So come along, take a breath and enjoy a different side of the festival. 🌻

Come for the gardening… Stay for the food! 🛍️🌱

What’s a festival without a little shopping? 👀

The Newcastle Allotment & Garden Festival is bringing together a brilliant mix of local traders and community organisations at Exhibition Park on Sunday 6 September.

Fancy something tasty? 🌮🥟🍰 You’ll find everything from pasties, kimchi and pickles to artisan doughnuts, bakes, chilli crisp and more.

Looking for something to take home? 🌿✨ There’ll be plants, tea, jewellery, crafts, clothing and plenty of other goodies to browse.

And it’s not just about shopping. You can meet local community groups, find out more about allotments and growing, discover wildlife and nature organisations, learn about food security – and even get your face painted! 🎨🐝

With Urban Park Market bringing the traders together and Wylam Brewery back with their bar, there’ll be plenty of reasons to have a wander around. 🍻

Fancy learning a new skill, discovering something different, or simply getting your hands a little dirty?

The Newcastle Allotment & Garden Festival has a brilliant programme of FREE workshops and demonstrations taking place throughout the day – and there’s something for curious gardeners, nature lovers and anyone who enjoys learning something new.

🍃 11.45am – Make your own medicinal herbal syrup with Plant Whisper

🍯 1.30pm – Enjoy a fascinating honey tasting with Dr Michael Richardson

🌱 3pm – Explore how microbiomes support both healthy soil and healthy people with Nourish the Wild

Best of all? They’re completely free to join, so why not pull up a chair and leave the festival with a little more knowledge than you arrived with.

We’ve got some fascinating talks lined up too – with plenty of ideas, inspiration and perhaps a few tips you’ll want to take home with you! 🌿

Discover the world of first aid herbs and how the plants growing in your kitchen and garden could have more uses than you might think.

🌳 12.45pm – Dr Michael Richardson
Why do we need to talk to young men about nature? Explore the relationship between young people, the outdoors and the natural world.

🥕 2.30pm – Corinne Herndon
Weeds, Wool and Wisdom – discover low-cost secrets to creating a thriving community plot.

So grab a cuppa, pull up a seat and settle in for some great conversations. And who knows – you might pick up an idea that transforms your own garden or allotment! 👩‍🌾🌻

GOOD GARDENS, GOOD FOOD… AND GOOD MUSIC! 🎶🌱

We’re counting down to the Newcastle Allotment & Garden Festival – and it wouldn’t be a festival without some live music! 🎤🎸

As you wander around Exhibition Park on Sunday 6 September, you’ll be able to enjoy live performances from some brilliant local artists, adding the perfect soundtrack to a day of gardening, growing, food, family fun and plenty of inspiration.

So whether you’re a seasoned allotment pro, a gardening newbie, or just fancy a great day out, there’s plenty to get you tapping your toes to. 💃🕺

Those who will be performing are North Tyneside Steelband, Ellington Colliery Brass Band and Voice of the Town.

A week to go! 📆

With a jam-packed programme of talks, hands-on workshops, live music and entertainment there’s something for everyone to get stuck into at the Newcastle Allotment & Garden Festival 2026! 🌿 🍅

We’re delighted to have an array of local experts, groups and independent businesses join us in Exhibition Park this year to celebrate growing, sustainability and wellbeing.

The festival is a celebration of allotments, gardening and growing, sustainability and wellbeing, with the one-day event transforming one of Newcastle’s most popular parks into a hub of creativity, activity, and connection with nature in the heart of the city.

It is open 11am - 4pm next Sunday (6th September) and entry is totally FREE!

Christmas is getting a time machine! ✨🎄

Northern Lights Newcastle is back at Leazes Park this winter — and this year, you’re invited to take a magical trip through Christmas past and present. 🎅⏰

After welcoming more than 250,000 visitors over the past three years, A Christmas Time Machine will bring the park to life from 20 November to 31 December with spectacular new illuminations, immersive storytelling and festive memories from across the generations.

Expect nostalgic Christmas favourites, interactive experiences, selfie spots, vintage fairground rides, a marshmallow zone and an expanded Christmas Village packed with food and drink from local producers. ✨

And there’s something extra special too — the Gobo Walk, created by children who have extended stays at Great North Children’s Hospital. ❤️

🎟️ Early Bird tickets are now on sale, with the best-value prices of the year.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Kids Go Free: on selected off-peak Early Bird dates until 31 August (while allocations last). Use code KIDSLIGHTS when booking to claim up to two free child tickets with an adult ticket.

Kids go FREE at Northern Lights Newcastle! ✨🎄

Looking for a festive family day out that won’t break the bank? There’s still time to grab FREE kids’ tickets for Northern Lights Newcastle – but you’ll need to be quick!

🎟️ Kids Go Free ends 16 August 2026, saving families up to £24 on selected weekday dates. Simply use code KIDSLIGHTS before selecting your tickets when booking one adult ticket.

And if you miss the Kids Go Free deadline, you can still make a saving with Early Bird prices, available until 31 August.

🌟 Returning to Leazes Park from 20 November to 31 December, this year’s mile-long festive trail takes you on a Christmas Time Machine journey through Christmases past, with brand-new installations, interactive moments and plenty of selfie spots.

Our Sutu Interactive Wall at City Stadium Park is helping people of all ages get active, have fun, and build skills through technology-driven outdoor play.

Since January 2023, the interactive equipment has recorded:
✅ 1,375 hours of active play
✅ 408,333 calories burned
✅ Thousands of games played by park visitors enjoying sport, exercise, and friendly competition

The Sutu Interactive Wall combines sport and technology, allowing users to test their reactions, accuracy, coordination, and fitness through a range of engaging challenges and games. Whether you're practising football skills, challenging friends, or simply looking for a fun way to be active, there's something for everyone.

Players can enjoy a variety of interactive games that focus on:
🎯 Target challenges – test your accuracy by hitting illuminated targets.
⚡ Speed and reaction games – improve reaction times and agility.
🏃 Fitness challenges – get moving while building stamina and coordination.
⚽ Football skills games – practise passing, shooting accuracy and ball control.
