Interesting discussion on oldest English accent https://www.bbc.co.uk/future/article/20260708-which-is-the-oldest-english-accent They really should do a TV series about English dialects (+ Scots, Welsh, Irish variations etc) with place-names, links to ancient kingdoms, Danelaw, Vikings Anglo-Saxons etc. Would be huge interest!
