Pumpkin kind of week🎃🎃🎃

The children had lots of fun exploring our pumpkin painting and washing activity! They enjoyed using their hands and paintbrushes to cover the pumpkins in colourful paint before getting stuck into washing them clean again. 🧡

This exciting, hands-on activity encouraged the children to explore different textures, colours and sensations while developing their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and creativity. The washing them provided wonderful opportunities for sensory exploration, imaginative play and practising independence.

The children had great fun exploring our pumpkin hammering and golf activity! Using child-friendly hammers, they experimented with tapping, hitting and pushing golf tees into the pumpkins.

This exciting, hands-on activity encouraged the children to develop their hand-eye coordination, concentration and fine and gross motor skills. They enjoyed exploring cause and effect, while building confidence through play.

What a fantastic morning, who doesn’t like to walk a 🐐.
Our children had hands on learning experience connecting with nature, rural life and where our food comes from. Thank you to animals about town once again.

instead of rushing children onto the next thing?

What if… before the phonics or pulling children to the next adult-led task…

…we simply paused long enough to truly see the child in front of us?

To notice:

* the child proudly carrying water backwards and forwards for 20 minutes
* the child making a birthday party for their favourite cuddly
* the child carefully lining up sticks, stones or animals
* the child who needs connection before participation
* the child telling you something important through their play

Because children are not data points to move through provision.

They are little people with feelings, fascinations, stories, worries, humour, wonder and deep emotional needs.

And so much of what matters most in childhood cannot be measured on a tracking sheet.

This is the heart of slow pedagogy.

Not doing less for children…
…but creating enough calm, space and presence for meaningful learning to actually unfold.

In my Hygge in the Early Years™ training, I help educators move away from overstimulation, overwhelm and constant rushing… and towards calm, connected, meaningful practice rooted in play, presence and wellbeing.

✨ Because childhood was never meant to feel like a race.
