For the last few years guests at Eden Gate have been working hard to transform our back garden. As this project nears completion, we are grateful for the ongoing support of the Alacrity Foundation in providing some beautiful plants to enhance the space.

We are so grateful to Whitehead Building Services for partnering with us to bring the new Eden Gate Skills Training Centre to life. Work has been completed to ensure that there is sufficient airflow in the main training space and the pictures below show members of the Whitehead team installing electrical sockets throughout the building. Things are starting to progress at pace now!

As we move towards the opening of the new Eden Gate Skills Training Centre in September 2026, we're pleased to announce our partnership with Working Wardrobe, who are kindly providing new personal protective equipment (PPE) for Eden Gate guests participating on the course. Not only will this help instil a sense of pride in our guests, it will also help to develop a sense of personal responsibility. The PPE is personal issue and will be retained by guests as they move towards employment. Thanks Working Wardrobe!

A Huge Thank You to Primark Newport! 🌟
As part of our humanitarian support for people experiencing homelessness in Newport, Eden Gate provides Essentials Packs. These contain brand new items such as underwear, socks, a woollen hat, scarf, gloves and toiletries, and are a lifeline for many of our guests.
We rely on the kindness of the public to help us keep them stocked and are incredibly grateful to Primark Newport, who have generously donated £250 in gift cards to purchase items for these packs. This support will make a real difference to those who need it most.
A special thank you also goes to our volunteer Nigel Dando, who faithfully takes responsibility for preparing the packs and ensuring we always have enough ready for distribution. His commitment is invaluable.
This is partnership working at its best — local people and local businesses coming together for the good of our city.

🚨 Exciting Opportunity to Make a Real Difference in Newport! 🚨

Eden Gate is building something special, and you could be part of it from the very beginning!

Our brand-new Skills Training Centre is now well underway, with the September launch firmly in sight! The centre will provide practical training in construction, nutrition, and digital skills, helping people experiencing homelessness build confidence, improve wellbeing, and move towards employment and independence.
Inspired by the challenge set through Prince Williams charity, Homewards, Eden Gate is developing an innovative, collaborative, and scalable response to homelessness right here in Newport, backed by major supporters from the construction and education sectors.

Now, we’re looking for volunteers who want to help shape this exciting new project. You do NOT need experience in construction, nutrition, or IT to get involved. We ask for compassion, encouragement, and a willingness to support others. This is a unique opportunity to get involved at the very start of something that has the potential to make a lasting impact across the city.

Over the last three years Eden Gate have been working with Operasonic to provide our guests opportunities to engage with weekly music sessions. As well as singing and playing, guests have been able to try song writing - thanks to the fantastic James Kirby singer/songwriter for helping out with this too.

This week saw the 2nd of a number of sessions in The Riverfront recording studio - what an experience! Thank you Operasonic.

We're so grateful for the support we’ve received from Niall Leighton-Boyce in helping us secure a fantastic city centre space, for the new Eden Gate Skills Training Centre (EGSTC).
Alongside our ongoing work at Hill Street, the EGSTC will give our guests the opportunity to gain accredited skills in construction and green energy - areas which we know can help people move into secure employment.

We’re delighted to share that the contract for the EGSTC has now been signed, and we’re looking forward to working with our partners to bring the new centre to life.
