Welcome back everyone 😊

It is lovely to see all of the children back in school today. I hope that you all had a relaxing Easter break.

Unfortunately, over the Easter holidays we have had problems with vandalism. Two of our expensive scooters were stolen (but were thankfully found and returned), swear words and foul language were written all over the foundation phase outdoor area and more recently, toys and glass have been smashed in the Stay and Play garden.

This has caused distress and extra workload for staff in the school and will incur extra costs. Please can the community help us by being vigilant and reminding all children, including older siblings, that they are not allowed on school grounds after school times and during school holidays.

Many thanks for your support.

Here is the 3rd and final video showing the windows being smashed.

The picture quality isn’t good due to the dark and rain, but you can clearly see them throwing stones/something at the windows which were smashed as a result.

Please let us know if you saw anything πŸ™πŸΌ

Thank you

Here is the second video which shows the individuals by the digger / equipment.

It is with a heavy heart, after my positive post earlier today, that I have to inform you about vandalism which took place at the school last night 😞

4 individuals were on the school site on Thursday 14th January between approximately 7:20 and 7:55pm.

They smashed windows around the school and damaged machinery which is being used for the pathway work.

These individuals would have arrived home wet and possibly muddy as one slipped on the bank when throwing stones at the windows. One has quite a distinctive shiny coat with large hood.

This and other footage has been forwarded to the police to aid their investigation.

Watching this video is heartbreaking when our Caretaker and Staff work so hard to make our school a safe and exciting learning environment for our pupils.

If you saw these individuals out last night, or recognise them, please message me on ClassDojo or email the school.

Thank you for your support.

Good afternoon,

We have just been informed that all β€œface to face” learning in Newport primary schools will finish on Wednesday 16th December. The decision has been made due to the significant rise in cases in Newport.

Home learning (blended learning) for all pupils will take place on Thursday 17th December and Friday 18th December. Therefore, school is closed and all pupils will stay at home for these two days and engage in this type of learning to ensure they are not together in classrooms.

Class teachers will provide learning activities for their pupils via ClassDojo and Google Classrooms.

All staff have worked tirelessly since September to ensure that the school is in a position to provide blended learning if necessary. Please support your child in completing activities that their class teacher sets for them.

School starts back on Monday 4th January 2021 (usual start times, entrances and exits).

Please can we take this opportunity to remind parents to keep children at home if they, or anyone in their household, has symptoms or is awaiting a test result.

Please try, where possible, to minimise all contact (in line with Government regulations) to keep everyone safe.

The decision to close the school for these 2 days has been made to keep families and staff safe to enjoy the Christmas break.

Many thanks for your support, patience and understanding.

Debra Guy
