Say hello to Daisy and Cooper, our new Pets as Therapy dogs! 🐾

Pictured with their owners Linda, Gordon and Martin, Daisy and Cooper will initially visit the Children’s Ward, offering comfort, companionship and a welcome distraction to patients who would like to meet them.

Their visits can also help ease feelings of stress and anxiety while providing a wellbeing boost for families and colleagues. We’re delighted to welcome them to the Trust! 💙

🌟 Staff spotlight: Meet Kirsty Scott, Fundraising Officer at IWT.

From organising events and supporting fundraisers to showing supporters the difference their donations make, no two days are the same for Kirsty. Funds raised help provide specialist equipment, wellbeing projects, training and improvements for patients, families and colleagues.

💬 Kirsty said: “Together, we’re helping to make a difference for patients, families and staff across the Island.”

Outside work, Kirsty loves being by the sea and exploring the Island’s coastline on her paddleboard.

It's Day 2 of Victorious Festival in Portsmouth, and we're reminding you to keep your health the headliner this weekend.

Come rain or shine, we know many of you will be out enjoying the music, food and festival vibes. But if you begin to feel unwell or need medical attention, head to one of the tents across the sites where the team will be able to help.

If you suddenly become very unwell and don’t know what to do, you can call NHS 111 or visit the NHS 111 website. And if you need urgent medical help during the weekend, St Mary’s Urgent Treatment Centre is open and is only a short drive from the festival.

Would you know what to do if you were stung by a jellyfish or another sea creature?

Most stings in the UK are not serious, but acting quickly can help:

✅ Rinse the area with seawater, not fresh water
✅ Carefully remove any spines using tweezers or the edge of a bank card
✅ Soak the area in very warm water for at least 30 minutes
❌ Do not apply ice, touch tentacles with bare hands or, despite the popular myth, p*e on the sting!

Call 999 if the person experiences serious symptoms such as difficulty breathing, chest pain or loss of consciousness.

The Isle of Wight Ambulance and 111 Service took to the roads last week, but thankfully, not for an emergency! 🚑

Colleagues joined the Newport Illuminated Carnival on Thursday 20 August, taking part in the colourful procession through the town. It was a fantastic evening of spectacular floats, costumes and entertainment, and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate alongside our Island community.

Thank you to everyone who came along and gave our team such a warm welcome! 💙

"We’re hoping that our studies will continue to have a big impact and improve the lives of those with asthma and food allergies.”

Those are the words of Hasan Arshad, Director at the David Hide Asthma and Allergy Research Centre, which is celebrating 30 years of research at its dedicated centre.

Opened in 1996 the centre has grown from a locally based research unit into an internationally recognised centre of excellence. Research has delivered significant advances in understanding how asthma and allergies develop, identifying factors that increase risk, and exploring how early-life interventions may help prevent disease.
