The Isle of Wight has seen temperatures of more than 25 degrees this weekend, and we are sure many of you are out enjoying the sunshine!

However, we want you to remember the importance of staying safe in the heat and hopefully avoiding a trip to our Emergency Department (ED), so we've shared some top tips.

Dehydration can be one of the main causes of ED attendance during peak temperatures, so remember to drink plenty of fluids. And we know that sunshine calls for a BBQ, but stay safe around any open flame or hot utensils. If you do receive a burn that requires medical attention, our Urgent Treatment Centres will be able to help.

Thanks to Hayley and the team at the Travellers Joy championing the importance of early defibrillation in the event of a cardiac arrest, their Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) is now available 24/7.

The team have persevered to raise money for a cabinet to be placed on the pub’s outside wall and we are so grateful to everyone who contributed. Early access to this live saving device is essential in the first few minutes of a cardiac arrest and we really appreciate the support Hayley and the team have shown.

Hayley said, "I’m really pleased that we were able to raise funds with the help of the community to have the defibrillator put in an outside wall box, making it accessible to the community 24/7, and we are truly grateful to everyone that donated money to help make this happen."
