Sadly Duchy Care was forced to close 31st of August 2021 after 20 years of loyal service caring for families in the Newquay and Perran Porth area my team of 25 hard-working professional carers and I were heartbroken to have to accept that due to the shortage of staff and difficulties recruiting whilst working through the COVID-19 pandemic it was clear that we would not be able to continue providing a professional service to all of our families in the community. It was a very painful and expensive process closing the agency and has taken many months. I’m very grateful to Kate from Pentowan homecare for providing care for 18 of our 50 families and offering a job to our remaining carers. Thank you to all of you who worked for Duchy Care for all of your hard work and dedication over the years. Especially those of you who were with us in the last six months where it got really tough I can’t thank you enough. And a special thanks of course to my lovely mum Glyn Minards the founder of Duchy Care. Care workers are some of the hardest working people you will ever meet and sadly still undervalued it’s definitely time care workers were given professional status the qualifications that we have to achieve the regulations we all work within and the sacrifices that are made must be recognised. We are a small family business established 2001. We are looking for two full time or four part time community carers to join our small team of Twenty. You will be providing health and social care to adults choosing to live at home in the Newquay and Perranporth area. Promoting independence and inclusion and working in a person centred way. Daily tasks include personal and social care to include medication, food preparation, socialising and much more. We welcome experience and are also happy to train you if the role is new to you. All training costs met by the employer. DBS cost met by the employer. We supply you with two full sets of uniform. A work mobile phone. We pay real travel time plus thirty five pence a mile fuel and the real living wage. Our morning shifts average from 7am to 1.30pm. The evening shifts are from 4pm to 10.15pm. Shifts are negotiable in the week and need to include every other weekend working. You will have guaranteed contracted hours that will be the same every month unless you request to change.This is a very rewarding job. Many of us in the team have worked for more than ten years with Duchy Care and really love what we do. You will need a driving licence and your own vehicle. Promotion is available within the team.
