Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust exists to provide a platform for information and education about the air ambulance and to fundraise to meet the costs of flying the helicopter. Fundraising efforts are strongly supported and driven by the community in Cornwall, as well as by visitors from outside the county who also become involved. Fundraising can take many forms including sports events, village fairs, charity evenings, sponsored events, and much much more. If you would like to find out more about fundraising for CAAT please get in touch. Charity representatives are also sometimes available to give talks to community groups or schools to raise awareness of the vital work of the air ambulance. Today is Restart a Heart Day ❤️

When someone needs urgent medical help, every second is crucial - but lifesaving action can start before your crew arrives.

By learning CPR and knowing how to use a defibrillator, you could give someone the best possible chance of survival.

While sitting on the sofa one evening, John suddenly went into cardiac arrest without any warning.

At first, his wife Charlotte thought he’d simply fallen asleep until she discovered he had stopped breathing. Thinking quickly, she called 999 and performed CPR for 15 minutes to keep John alive.

Volunteer firefighters were first to arrive and immediately took over CPR. Soon after, your crew arrived to provide advanced critical care at the scene.

Today is World Mental Heath Day.

Cornwall Air Ambulance responds to many incidents each year where mental health is a key factor.

If you or a loved one is finding things difficult, remember that you're not alone.

If you are worried about your own or someone else’s mental health, call 111 and select the mental health option (option 2). This call is free and will enable you to speak to a mental health professional in Cornwall. Anyone, any age, any time. You can also call the Samaritans on 116 123 or text ‘Shout’ to 85258.

Today we're shining a spotlight on another piece of lifesaving kit used by your crew - the LUCAS device.

It provides mechanical chest compressions to patients in cardiac arrest. It’s an alternative to manual cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) because it provides consistent compressions at a fixed rate through difficult transport conditions and eliminates the physical strain on the crew performing CPR.

Your crew are attending patients 365 days a year and equipment like this is one of many that can help save a life.
