Fundraising can take many forms including sports events, village fairs

, charity evenings, sponsored events, and much much more. If you would like to find out more about fundraising for CAAT please get in touch. Charity representatives are also sometimes available to give talks to community groups or schools to raise awareness of the vital work of the air ambulance. Last week marked an incredible 20 years of service at Cornwall Air Ambulance for Mick McLachlan.

Mick joined the ambulance service in Cornwall (SWAST) in June 2002 after serving 11 years with the London Ambulance Service.

He became a full-time member of your crew in May 2006 and as a Specialist Critical Care Paramedic, has attended thousands of missions across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

As well as providing critical care in the region, Mick also holds the role of Deputy Air Operations Officer at our base in Newquay.

Steve Garvey, Air Operations Officer, said: "It has been, and continues to be, a huge honour to work alongside Mick and this moment is a real testament to his dedication, skill and passion as a Critical Care Paramedic.

"In addition to providing outstanding care to our patients, Mick also assists in every aspect of running the airbase and plays an integral part in ensuring our operations run as smoothly as possible."

Mick said: "20 years in and it’s still such a fantastic job being a part of the Cornwall Air Ambulance crew. From one day to the next, you never know what you’re going to be doing, where you’re going to be or who you’re going to meet. It’s an incredibly satisfying role.”

On behalf of everyone at Cornwall Air Ambulance, congratulations Mick for reaching this amazing milestone in your career and thank you for all you do.

As Critical Care Paramedics, members of your crew are trained in a range of advanced skills that can help them provide the very best care to seriously ill and injured patients.

We asked Trainee Critical Care Paramedic Will to tell us about just one of those skills the team frequently use when tasked to missions.

Following the news of an incident involving a Royal Navy helicopter near Okehampton early this morning, our thoughts are with all of those affected.

The aviation and emergency services communities, which we are proud to be a part of, is a very close-knit one - this is undoubtedly a very difficult day for our colleagues and we stand alongside them.

Today is the start of Volunteers' Week and we want to say a huge thank you to each and every one of our amazing Groundcrew volunteers. ❤️

By giving your time, energy and enthusiasm, you are playing a vital part in ensuring we can continue to provide critical care to those in need, right across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. 🚁

If you've ever thought about volunteering with us but are concerned you don't have enough time to spare, even a couple of hours will make a real difference.

In this short video, our Volunteer Manager, Jackie Eastwood, talks us through the many ways our Groundcrew volunteers support our lifesaving mission.
