👋 Say hello to Splodge – the very first white-faced saki monkey to call Newquay Zoo home!

This laid-back 16-year-old male arrived a couple of weeks ago from Dartmoor Zoo and has already settled in brilliantly. You'll find him on Tapir Island, where he's sharing his home with our pygmy marmosets. He has full access to the surrounding trees too, so don't forget to look up!🌳

Splodge is happiest relaxing high in the branches, taking life at his own pace and soaking up the warm weather. But if you really want to win him over, bring a keeper with a walnut! 🌰 They're his absolute favourite treat, and he'll often greet them with the funniest little grunting sounds while tucking in.

We're so excited to welcome the first white-faced saki monkey ever to Newquay Zoo, so make sure you stop by and see if you can spot Splodge on your next visit!

🦓 A very special new arrival has joined the Savannah!

We're delighted to share the arrival of a beautiful zebra foal, born just one week ago to first-time mum Luna and dad Parsley. Sadly, Parsley passed away unexpectedly a couple of months ago, making this precious new arrival an especially meaningful one for our team.

After around 12 to 13 months of pregnancy, zebra foals enter the world ready to impress. Within minutes of being born, they're on their feet, and before long they're running alongside mum - an incredible adaptation that helps them keep up with the herd and stay safe from predators in the wild.

The little foal has spent the past week growing in confidence and can now be seen exploring the Savannah with Luna by their side. Watching the pair together has been a real joy for our team.

This is a significant moment for Newquay Zoo, and we couldn't be happier to welcome this precious new arrival.

Be sure to keep an eye out on the Savannah during your next visit... you might just spot our newest striped resident!🖤🤍

When the only way to cool down is by lying in a mud bath, you know it’s too warm! 🐗☀️

Rocoto’s first swim 🐧💦

Born to parents Williams & Churro this little chick is the only one to hatch at the zoo this year. Now at 12 weeks old, they felt ready to take the plunge and join the rest of the family in the water👏

Keepers have named the chick ‘Rocoto’ - a type of chilli pepper in Peru🌶️

This name fits the South American theme across the NZ colony of Humboldt penguins, as they are native to the coasts of Peru and Chile 🇵🇪🇨🇱

🏆 Newquay Zoo Dad of the Year Awards 🏆

🐵 Dourado the Golden Lion Tamarin
The Experienced Dad Award
Golden lion tamarin dads are famously hands-on, often carrying infants on their backs for much of the day and only handing them back to mum for feeding. Dourado knows a thing or two about raising the next generation.

🐱 Onyx the Carpathian Lynx
The Protector Award
A devoted dad to last year's lynx kitten, Onyx is a calm and confident presence in the family. He's also one of the few animals brave enough to stand his ground with the fiery Kicsi.

🐷 Randy the Visayan Warty Pig
The Laid-Back Dad Award
Proof that parenting isn't always about rushing around. Randy takes life at his own pace, and in the wild, warty pigs live in close family groups where adults work together to keep youngsters safe.

🐧 Williams the Humboldt Penguin
The Rookie Dad Award
A new father this year, Williams has taken to parenthood like a penguin to water. Humboldt penguin parents share incubation and chick-rearing duties, making teamwork essential for raising a healthy chick.

🚧 New worlds are beginning to emerge at Newquay Zoo...

If you've visited recently, you may have spotted a few barriers and diggers around the zoo. Behind the scenes, we're beginning an exciting new chapter as we transform parts of the site into more immersive spaces designed to bring you closer to wildlife than ever before.

One of the first changes you'll start to see is our new Savannah route, creating fresh viewpoints and new ways to experience some of your favourite animals. Along the route, we're developing new habitats for species including meerkats, porcupines and caracals, with some exciting new arrivals planned for the future too... 👀

And that's just the beginning.

Work is also underway on a brand-new Madagascar experience, including a walkthrough habitat with free-roaming lemurs and a nocturnal environment. This future habitat will eventually become home to one of the world's most unusual primates – the aye-aye.

As we continue to evolve, our goal is to create spaces that feel more immersive, more engaging and more connected to the natural world, making every visit feel like an adventure of discovery.

This summer marks the start of that journey, and we can't wait to share more with you as these new worlds begin to emerge.

Watch this space... 🌿🦒✨
