FACT FRIDAY 🤔🧠

Not all disabilities are visible.

Someone living with an acquired brain injury may look exactly as they did before their injury, but that doesn't mean life feels the same.

Fatigue, memory difficulties, problems concentrating, sensory overload and emotional changes are just some of the challenges that may not be immediately obvious to others.

A little patience and understanding can make a big difference. 💜

At Head Injury Support, we understand that you don't have to see the effects of brain injury for them to be real. We see the person beyond the injury.

We recognise the challenges that often go unnoticed, celebrate the achievements that others might take for granted, and provide a safe, welcoming space where survivors can feel understood, supported and valued.

✨ You don't have to see someone's struggles to believe them. Sometimes, the most powerful support we can offer is simply to listen, understand and be patient.

Let's continue raising awareness of the invisible effects of brain injury, because understanding can make a world of difference. 💜

A massive thank you to the organisers of Kilbroney Vintage Show for raising vital funds, donated to Head Injury Support, along with 13 other amazing charities.

Service Delivery Manager, Laura-May Jennings, and Trustee, Carole Murphy had the pleasure of accepting the cheque Friday evening, pictured below.

For small charities like ours, every donation really does make a difference. Community fundraising helps us continue providing vital support, activities and opportunities for people living with acquired brain injury, their families and carers.

Every pound helps us keep our doors open, reduce isolation and provide a welcoming community where survivors can build confidence, friendships and a sense of purpose. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supports our work 💜

Kilbroney Vintage Show 2026 raised £45,100 for good causes :)

The event was organised and delivered by the Kilbroney Vintage Show committee in partnership with Newry Lions Club. Fourteen charities took part, with more than 100 volunteers contributing their time and support to help the show run smoothly. Thanks to their collective effort and the generosity of those who attended and supported the event, that £45,100 has now been distributed among the participating charities.
