The Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition are an electoral alliance with groups active across the UK. We categorically reject the government's austerity programme, and the austerity programmes being implemented by governments worldwide (including countries like Greece, Spain, Italy and Cyprus). The economic crisis was caused by major banks, central banks, neo-liberal deregulation of the financial

sector by governments, but it is the rest of society that is being made to pay for the crash and COVID while the banks receive bailouts and quantitative easing. Millions of people across the UK, people, women, LGBTQ people, single parents and the unemployed are being made to suffer for the sake of an ideologically justified (not economically driven) austerity programme while the Tories are more than able to find the money for more defence spending of £16Bn. At the same time they implement pay freezes for workers, which have been ongoing for 10 years! Despite the disastrous economic programme of the Tories, TUSC does *not* advocate support for the Labour Party which has recently suffered a lurch again to the right and failure to defend pay for vital key workers during the COVID crisis. TUSC is forming a coalition with the trade unions and would implement policies to improve their ability to effectively defend workers' conditions and wages. If you want to put a stop to these social problems, defend the NHS and our schools, defend the right to a living wage, and want a rational and humane economic alternative to what the main parties are offering, then get involved in TUSC!
