Ugbrooke House & Gardens is one of Devon's best kept secrets. The private family home of the Lords Cliffords and his heirs for over 400 years. This Grade-I listed stately home is available for private hire, corporate events, milestone family occasions and private tours. In June and July it is open to the public to explore the Capability Brown parkland and the Robert Adam house and to enjoy treats in the tea room.

🎥 A setting made for the screen…🎬

Ugbrooke House provides a spectacular backdrop for both period dramas and contemporary film and television productions.

With beautifully restored interiors, authentic period details and an unmistakable sense of grandeur, the House offers a wealth of atmosphere — from historic elegance to sophisticated contemporary luxury.

And it’s not just the interiors that make filming here straightforward. Just 20 minutes from the M5 via the A380, lorries and vans can drive directly onto the grounds, with two large car parks accommodating up to 200 cars.

Inside, traditional materials and craftsmanship bring an authentic sense of history to every room, including French velvet gaufrage and hand-dyed silk tapestries. There’s something rather special about the bedrooms at Ugbrooke House. 🛏️🌿

There are twelve bedroom suites in the house, sleeping up to 24 guests, and no two are quite the same.

Each room has its own character, with a mix of classical decoration, intricate wallpaper patterns and traditional furnishings. Four-poster beds feature throughout, complemented by comfortable seating, goose-down duvets and spacious bathrooms.

The rooms also make the most of their setting, with views across different parts of the estate — from the sweeping lawns to the lake and the landscape beyond.

They’re peaceful, comfortable spaces to return to after a day spent exploring the estate, with plenty of those details that make staying in a historic country house feel uniquely exceptional. 🌿

Looking at this view, it’s hard to believe how quickly the year is passing. Somehow, we’re already stepping into August!

There’s still plenty to look forward to at Ugbrooke, with more events, updates and glimpses of life across the estate planned for the coming months.

⏰ Time is running out and it's the final week of our 2026 Summer Open House & Gardens.

Our final opening day is this Thursday, 30th July.

Choose a Gardens & Grounds Ticket and spend the day exploring our beautiful gardens, Capability Brown parkland and peaceful estate at your own pace. Or, step inside the House and join one of our fascinating guided tours to uncover centuries of history, remarkable collections and family heritage.

🎟 Last admission: 3.30pm
🚪 Estate closes: 4.30pm
