A beautiful traditional Highland Estate covering 38,000 acres, set in unspoilt scenery. We are able to offer wonderful peaceful holidays on the Estate in any of our 6 holiday cottages. Chainsaws, sculptures and a pipe band. Just a normal Saturday in the Highlands! 🪵

If you’re staying at Ardverikie this weekend, here’s one for this weekends plans.

Carve Carrbridge takes place on Saturday 5th September, around an hour’s drive from the Estate. The carvers get started at 10am and spend the day creating their pieces, with a Quick Carve later in the afternoon and an auction of the finished work.

There’s also a pipe band, food and drink, stalls and activities throughout the day, so it’s a good one if you’re looking for somewhere to head with the family.

Tickets are ÂŁ12 for adults, ÂŁ5 for ages 5 to 15, and free for under 5s.

This week we’re heading to Inverpattack Lodge, set in elevated grounds overlooking the River Pattack and reached along its own private drive.

With space for eight guests, it’s one for getting a group together, with the added bonus of a hot tub waiting when you get back from a day outdoors.

And there’s plenty of outdoors to explore. Staying here gives you access to the hills and walks across Ardverikie Estate, straight from your base.

🏡Cottage of the Week is looking a little different this week... meet our Eco Pod.

Designed for two, it’s a self-catering stay with everything you need tucked inside, including a kitchen, bathroom with shower and a wood-burning stove.

There’s plenty happening outside too, with a large deck, outdoor seating, firepit, grill and covered outdoor kitchen area. And, for those who fancy it, there’s even a warm-water outdoor shower as well as the one indoors. 🚿

The Eco Pod sleeps two, welcomes one dog maximum.

A little heads-up if you’ve been thinking about a December stay at Ardverikie ...

🏡 The Gatelodge, Pinewood Cottage and our Eco Pod are now fully booked until December, and we’re already starting to see interest in the remaining dates towards the end of the year.

So, while Christmas might not be at the top of your list in August, if you’ve had your eye on one of these for a winter stay, it might be worth getting your dates in the diary sooner rather than later.

🏡Cottage of the week - Old Tullochroam

This week we’re looking at Old Tullochroam, on the north-westerly edge of Ardverikie Estate, with beautiful views south across Loch Laggan.

Sleeping six, it’s a good one for families or friends travelling together, particularly because of the spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area.

Old Tullochroam also has a pay-as-you-go EV charger, a handy addition if you’re exploring the area by electric car.

We recently took a little drive east to Ruthven Barracks (just a 30-40-minute drive from the estate)

It's one of Scotland's best-preserved 18th century military fortifications, standing on a hillside overlooking Kingussie in the Cairngorms National Park. 🏰

Built by the British Government after the Jacobite rising of 1715, the barracks were designed to house government troops and help maintain control in the Highlands.

Today, the roofless stone ruins are managed as a historic site and offer visitors the chance to explore the remains of the soldiers' quarters, officers' accommodation and defensive walls while taking in panoramic views across Badenoch.

A self-catering base to explore Ardverikie Estate, our refurbished traditional cottage sits in a secluded woodland setting, offering plenty of peace and privacy. Although it's semi-detached, the adjoining building is permanently unoccupied, so you'll have the surroundings all to yourself.

One of its biggest highlights is the location. The spectacular Falls of Pattack are just a short walk away, while woodland views and miles of estate to explore are right on your doorstep.

A walk up to Pattack Falls after a spot of heavy rain is often quite spectacular!

However, we do encourage walkers to exercise extreme caution in this area at all times, as the ground must be loose and slipper. Sturdy footwear is essential.
