Mount Stewart - National Trust

Mount Stewart - National Trust Mount Stewart is one of the most inspiring and unusual gardens in the National Trust's ownership with miles of countryside trails to explore
(843)

The garden reflects a rich tapestry of design and great planting artistry that was the hallmark of Edith, Lady Londonderry. The mild climate of Strangford Lough allows astonishing levels of planting experimentation. The formal areas exude a strong Mediterranean feel and resemble an Italian villa landscape; the wooded areas support a range of plants from all corners of the world, ensuring something

to see whatever the season. Engaging tours of the opulent house reveal its fascinating heritage and historic world-famous artefacts and artwork. House Rules of our page:

We are delighted to host and be part of the BeHere Exhibition.

📅Saturday 6 June - Friday 3 July, 11am - 4pm
🖼 BeHere Exhibition
📍Mount Stewart, Exhibition Space

BeHere is a community-led project exploring whether, and how, heritage sites can enhance a sense of community belonging. It's a year-long Participatory Action Research project where members of the community have been examining what belonging means to them and how a heritage site can contribute to belonging. The group have created pieces of textile, ceramics and glass which have been inspired by their exploration of the mansion house and estate.

You can come and visit the exhibition Monday to Sunday (normal admission applies, members free)

Funded by AHRC Creative Communities programme.

Join Tessa Ann, founder of The Sound Healing Spa, for a special Summer Solstice Sound Experience.

📅Sat 20 Jun 11am to 3pm
📍Temple of the Winds, Mount Stewart
🎟 Book here https://shorturl.at/M3Qu4

The Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year, a seasonal turning point and a natural invitation to pause, gather your energy, and step into the summer season with greater presence and intention.

This carefully curated three-hour experience, limited to just 16 guests, offers space to slow down, rest, and reconnect. Thoughtfully designed to create a contained and restorative space for deep rest, spacious awareness, and gentle recalibration.

Using carefully selected live sound, including singing bowls, gentle percussion, and spacious periods of stillness, Tessa creates an environment that invites you to soften and settle.

Following the sound experience, guests will have time to gently re-emerge, integrate their experience, and enjoy a light seasonal lunch prepared by the Mount Stewart team.

You can be part of our ‘Mount Stewart Stories’ Historic Houses Global Crossroads project which seeks to explore everyone's stories and memories connected to our region's historic houses.

We want to hear from you. Do you have memories, objects or photos connected with Mount Stewart? Please bring them along, and the stage will be yours! Or, if you prefer to share your story quietly with a researcher, that’s OK too. Refreshments will be served.

The event will start with a few short talks. Mary Lappin will introduce Desire Paths to Belonging: BeHere, a new exhibition exploring what Mount Stewart means to local people.

We're proud to be working with and Arts and Humanities Research Council - AHRC on this important project.

Have you been tuning into at Crom Fermanagh National Trust this week?

You might have seen one of the characters to come out of this week was a nesting Little Grebe also known as Devil Divers in America. For many years there has been a family of Little Grebe on the lake at Mount Stewart, that you might just catch a glimpse of if you visit this weekend.

Mount Stewart will be hosting a six-week creative residency this May & June with artist Eleanor Wheeler .

📅First drop in session 6 June 2-4pm

Visitors can get involved, meet Eleanor in the studio and join drop-in sessions. You can contribute to the project by making a small teacup ‘ceramic pinch pot’. This will become part of a “Teacup Mandala” sculpture, celebrating Mount Stewart’s historic links with India. The final piece will be later displayed in the gardens throughout the summer.

Artist Eleanor will develop a Mount Stewart inspired body of work that responds meaningfully to the property’s global connections and will work onsite throughout June, creating art inspired by the history of Mount Stewart House and gardens.
