Longholt Wood Natural Burial Ground Ancient woodland burial ground. The woodland consists mainly of ancient woodland composed of Ash, Oak, Field Maple and Wild Cherry.

Longholt Wood is a natural burial ground located in the heart of rural Lincolnshire between the villages of Nocton and Potterhanworth, eight miles south of the City of Lincoln. A further two acres planted in 2010 is where the burials are conducted. Longholt Wood will be managed as a wildlife haven, with the burial ground mown twice annually, until the new woodland is established. Snowdrops, Bluebe

lls, Dogs Mercury and Anemone flourish throughout the woodland, accompanied by less common plants such as Midland Hawthorn, Wild Narcissus and Black Bryony. We are now able to offer burials within this very special place. Graves are laid out side by side, with each grave being a single plot. Graves may be purchased in advance or at the time of committal. Adjacent graves may also be purchased at this time, for future use. We recommend the use of a funeral director, due to the experience, guidance and support that they offer. However, we are available to help, should families wish to make their own arrangements. Due to the sensitive nature of the site we insist that all shrouds, caskets and coffins used are 100% biodegradable. Materials often used include Cotton, Cardboard, Wicker and or untreated wood with rope handles. We discourage the use of embalming fluids, and request that no non-biodegradable products are placed upon the grave. Flowers with no packaging materials may be placed upon the grave, or native woodland flowers planted upon it. Graves may be marked by a memorial tree and an untreated, engraved memorial plaque.
