Would you like to volunteer for Norfolk Libraries and support the Reading Friends sessions?

Do you love reading aloud?
Are you free on Tuesday evenings from 6:15-7.30pm?
Are you comfortable using Zoom?

Reading Friends meets online every week, and a volunteer reads the first few chapters of a book aloud to the group.

Would you be interested in being our back up reader when our existing volunteers are on holiday?

You'll be working with library staff to find great reads and encouraging the listeners to share their views.

Thank you to the pupils and staff at Millfield Primary North Walsham and Swanton Abbott Primary School for making us feel very welcome this week. Our manager visited both schools to tell the children about the exciting Summer Reading Challenge coming soon. We look forward to welcoming them all in the library in July to register for the challenge .

Your entry (and picture) will be considered for an exhibition at the library in September to celebrate National Year of Reading

Judy - "I’d like to thank all the staff who make visiting the library such a positive experience. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and understanding. It’s a pleasure to visit and makes my visits to the housebound so much easier."
Sally- "I volunteer for the Library Service as I have carried on the WRVS tradition that my Mother held before me. Also, I was a Meals-on-Wheels volunteer until that ceased in this area. My love of books and reading is inherited and I enjoy discussing the various genre that people enjoy."

1 - 7 June is ! We are so grateful to our wonderful volunteers who support us in so many ways at North Walsham Library, so thank you!
Hear from one of our volunteers, Marion ; "Volunteering is an antidote for aging. It keeps you active and involved. It gives you structure to your week especially once you have retired. Over the 4 years I have volunteered for North Walsham Library I have made many friends of all ages and enjoyed being part of a growing chess community in the town. "

Don't forget our plant sale this Saturday, 11am to 1pm.
If the weather is bad, we will be indoors. If not, you will find the Friends outside the library, by the front door.

And you can have the chance to win this magnificent Money Plant by buying a raffle ticket for £1 a ticket!
