Mount Grace Priory is the perfect tourist attraction for a relaxing and peaceful day out. Discover how the monks lived 600 years in the reconstructed monk’s cell and herb plot. The crumbling masonry and open grassland have become home to a collection of wildlife that has taken advantage of what previous owners, including the monks, left behind. The famous priory stoats inhabit the passages under Mount Grace and are possibly the best-known colony of stoats in Yorkshire and even the British Isles.

So we’ve heard there’s a Battle of The Yorkshire Monasteries 👀

We have officially entered the chat. Whilst you may have fame for Dracula Whitby Abbey, and whilst you may look aesthetically pleasing Rievaulx Abbey, we think we win.

Not only are we a Carthusian Priory, making us more unique, we have our very own replica Monk’s Cell complete with its own garden, a holiday cottage, a cafe, a Manor House (complete with original William Morris interiors), a second hand bookshop, a lovelyyyy car park with an overflow, a brand new play area AND award winning gardens 😌

We think the case is closed.

Safe to say that the morning rush today had a few bleating moments 🐑😅

We are looking forward to welcoming our visitors today (including the woolly ones)! It’s set to be a warm one over the next couple of days, so please make sure to stay hydrated and look after yourselves when you visit site. Our staff will be available to assist with any issues that may arise.

We’re open 10am-5pm, last admission is at 4.30pm.

Due to an issue with Yorkshire Water, causing a shortage of water in the area, we will be closing site at 4pm today.
