📝❤️ Young people from Maple View have been using poetry as a creative way to reflect on and express their experiences of being in care.

Through thoughtful words, personal stories, and powerful emotions, they have explored their journeys, celebrated their achievements, and shared their hopes for the future. Poetry provides a safe and meaningful outlet for self-expression, helping young people find their voice and build confidence.

We are incredibly proud of the courage, creativity, and honesty shown by everyone who took part. Their poems remind us of the strength, resilience, and individuality of every young person in our care.

🍪 National Biscuit Day at Barn Owl 🍪

Barn Owl celebrated National Biscuit Day in style with a fantastic afternoon full of fun, creativity, and of course plenty of biscuits! 😍

Our young people and staff enjoyed a tea and biscuit tasting session, trying a variety of different biscuits and sharing their favourites. The competitive spirit came out during our biscuit tower building challenge, where teams tested their engineering skills to see who could build the tallest tower before it crumbled!

The highlight of the day was our Best Baked & Designed Biscuit Competition. Everyone put in a huge amount of effort, creating some amazing designs that looked almost too good to eat. The creativity on display was incredible, making it very difficult for the judges to choose a winner.

A brilliant day filled with laughter, teamwork, imagination, and plenty of sweet treats! 🍪☕🏆

A brilliant day out for the young people at Maple View with a trip to the beach followed by lots of fun at the funfair! 🌊☀️🎡

From paddling in the sea and enjoying the sunshine to riding the attractions, winning prizes and eating plenty of treats, it was a day full of laughter, memories and smiles all round.

These experiences are so important in helping our young people build confidence, strengthen relationships and simply enjoy being children. ❤️

A fantastic day making memories together! 🌊🍦🎠✨

Back to the Barn Owl… 90s Edition 📼🎶🕺

Barn Owl was taken right back in time with an amazing 90s themed night packed full of nostalgia, laughs and loads of fun for everyone involved!

We had:
🍬 A classic 90s sweet shop
🥤 Glass bottle pop delivered milkman style
❓ A competitive 90s quiz
💃 A brilliant dancing competition with all the best throwback tunes
🌭 90s inspired food and a BBQ feast

The home was full of music, laughter and some questionable dance moves as staff and young people fully embraced the theme. A fantastic evening making memories together and bringing a bit of old school fun back to Barn Owl ✨📺🎤

A lovely creative session over at Glenside creating mood boards 🎨✨

This activity gave the young people the opportunity to express themselves, explore their emotions and communicate how they are feeling in a different and creative way. Using colours, pictures, words and inspiration, each mood board became a unique reflection of their personalities, thoughts and goals.

A great way to encourage conversation, self-expression and emotional wellbeing while having fun together 💙

✨ Eid celebrations over at Maple View ✨

Our young people and staff came together to enjoy a fantastic evening of food, culture and celebration. Staff prepared a delicious homemade chicken biriyani alongside chicken pakoras, lamb samosas and an amazing Arabic and Asian dessert selection including baklava.

The celebrations were topped off with refreshing mango and litchi drinks enjoyed by everyone together. 🍛🥟🍹

A lovely evening full of laughter, togetherness and sharing different traditions and cultures around the table. 🌙💛

Last week at Barn Owl we celebrated Mental Health Awareness Week with a range of mindful and wellbeing activities with our amazing young people 💙

From meditation and calming exercises, to nature walks in the fresh air, gratitude activities and creating relaxing spaces to unwind, the week was all about supporting positive mental health and reminding our young people how important they are. 🌿☀️

We also spent time checking in with one another, encouraging open conversations and showing kindness to ourselves and others. Sometimes the smallest steps can make the biggest difference.

At WiNurture we want every young person to know:
✨ You matter.
✨ Your mental health matters.
✨ It’s okay to ask for support.

A lovely week full of connection, reflection and positivity. 🦉💙
