It's been a record-breaking year for our volunteers! ⭐

Volunteers across Northampton and Kettering General Hospitals have given an amazing 82,536 hours over 12 months – the equivalent of almost nine-and-a-half years of continuous volunteering. 🙌

The record-breaking hours were accrued between April 2025 and March 2026, with volunteers supporting patients, visitors and staff in a wide range of roles across the hospitals.

From supporting patients on arrival and in wards, to helping teams with non-clinical tasks, volunteers play a vital role across UHN.

Praising their efforts, UHN Chief Executive Richard Mitchell said: “Contributing a record 82,536 hours over the past year is an incredible achievement and reflects the generosity, compassion and community spirit they bring to UHN.

“We are immensely proud of everything they do and are sincerely grateful for the time they give so freely to support our patients, visitors and colleagues.”

Thank you to each and every one of our volunteers. Together we can make a difference! 💙

Wishing our oldest volunteer, Derek Warren, a very happy birthday! 🎂

He turned 90 this week and still comes in with a cheery smile to help patients and visitors arriving at our South Entrance.

Remarkably, he was born three years before the start of World War Two and 12 years before the creation of the NHS!

Derek is a much loved and dedicated member of our team who will be in again this Friday. Please do wish him a happy birthday if you see him. 🥳
