As part of the ongoing Queen Elizabeth Memorial project, residents are being invited to share their personal memories of Her Late Majesty. Whether it’s a moment from a royal visit, a family story passed down through generations, or simply what Queen Elizabeth meant to you, your reflections help preserve a shared history for future generations.

The initiative is being led by the Cabinet Office and the Queen Elizabeth Memorial Committee, who are gathering stories through the official memorial website.

Those wishing to contribute can share their memories online and become part of this national record of remembrance.

D‑Day Remembrance – 6 June 1944

Today we honour the courage and sacrifice of all who took part in the D‑Day landings — the beginning of the liberation of Europe.

Eighty‑two years on, we remember those who served, those who fell, and the enduring peace their bravery helped secure.

🕊️ Brixworth Parish Council joins the nation in gratitude and remembrance.

Let us never forget their service and the freedoms they defended.

Caravan Site – Planning Applications and Parish Council Role

We are aware of the concerns being raised by residents regarding the caravan site in the village and the recent planning decisions made by West Northamptonshire Council (WNC).

It is important to clarify that Brixworth Parish Council is not the decision making authority for planning applications. We are a statutory consultee only. This means we can review applications, hold public meetings, publish agendas, and submit comments — but all planning decisions are made solely by West Northamptonshire Council as the principal planning authority.

Planning Applications Considered by Brixworth Parish Council
The Parish Council’s Planning Committee has been consulted on several applications relating to the caravan site. All were discussed in public meetings, with agendas published in advance.
1. Application 2023/5310/LDP - https://wnc.planning-register.co.uk/Planning/Display/2023/5310/LDP
Proposal: Lawful Development Certificate for the proposed use of land for siting touring caravans for residential purposes without limitation of stay.
Parish Council position (5 June 2023): Did not support the proposal and submitted comments to WNC reflecting this.
WNC decision: Approved on 13 June 2024.

2. Application 2025/0118/LDP - https://wnc.planning-register.co.uk/Planning/Display/2025/0118/LDP

Proposal: Carrying out of building and engineering works and other operations as permitted development.
Parish Council position (27 January 2025): Did not support the application and lodged a formal objection. The application was revised several times, and the Planning Committee submitted further detailed objections in January and April 2025.
WNC decision: Approved on 4 December 2025.

3. Application 2026/0504/SCRN - https://wnc.planning-register.co.uk/Planning/Display/2026/0504/SCRN
Proposal: Screening opinion request seeking to bypass an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
Parish Council position (16 February 2026): Objected strongly, noting:
• the site’s proximity to the reservoir,
• the significant environmental risks, and
• that it would be inappropriate to bypass any Environmental Impact Assessment given the potential ecological and public interest impacts.
WNC decision: Approved on 1 May 2026.

Our Position
We understand and share residents’ concerns, and we are disappointed that the objections raised by Brixworth Parish Council did not result in refusal by West Northamptonshire Council.
However, it is essential to be clear:
➡️ Brixworth Parish Council does not have the legal powers or governance authority to approve or refuse planning applications.
➡️ All planning decisions rest with West Northamptonshire Council, who assess applications against national and local planning policy.

Where to Find More Information
Further detailed information about the applications — including the full documents, plans, and the objections submitted — can be found on the West Northamptonshire Council Planning Portal, using the links within this post.

If you have further concerns about these planning decisions, these should be directed to West Northamptonshire Council’s Planning Department, who are the statutory decision‑makers. Email: [email protected]

West Northamptonshire Council is encouraging residents to take part in The Big Conversation on Adult Social Care, inviting people to share their experiences of care and support provided through council services. Feedback gathered will help shape how adult social care is delivered in the future.

Alongside the main survey — open until 30 July — the Council is also hosting a series of Big Conversation events where residents can speak directly with the team, ask questions, and share their views in person.

Upcoming event dates include:
• 29 June – Doddridge Centre (2–4pm) and Broadmead Church (10am–12pm)
• 1 July – Duston Community Centre (10am–12pm)
• 2 July – Daventry Leisure Centre (10am–12pm) and Riverside Centre (2–4pm)

Residents can complete the survey using the QR code provided, and anyone with questions can contact the team at [email protected].

This is an important opportunity for local people to help shape and improve adult social care across West Northants.

This month, we take a moment to reflect on what makes our parish a welcoming place for everyone.

Pride Month reminds us of the importance of kindness, respect, and understanding — values that sit at the heart of community life.

Our village is built on neighbourliness, shared spaces, and the belief that everyone should feel safe and valued.

Whether volunteering, attending local events, or simply saying hello when passing each other on the streets, each of us contributes to that sense of belonging.

As we mark June, we celebrate the diversity that strengthens our community and the simple acts of inclusion that make it thrive.

Let’s continue to look out for one another and ensure that our parish remains a place where everyone feels at home.

Fire Cadet Opportunities Now Open in Northamptonshire

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service is inviting young people aged 13–17 to apply for its Fire Cadet programme – a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence and become part of a team that makes a real difference in the community.

The programme offers hands-on experience of what it’s like to be part of the Fire and Rescue Service, with weekly sessions held at local fire stations during term time. Cadets develop practical firefighting knowledge, teamwork and leadership skills in a supportive environment.

In addition to training, Fire Cadets play an active role in the community, attending local and national events, sharing safety advice and demonstrating how firefighters help protect the public.

No previous experience is required – just enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to learn.

Applications are open until 30 June 2026.

West Northamptonshire Council has teamed up with Anglo Recycling to provide free doorstep collections for residents wishing to donate unwanted clothing, footwear, textiles, bric‑a‑brac, toys, CDs, books, kitchenware, and small household items.

Almost everything collected is reused or recycled, making the service both convenient and environmentally friendly. Residents simply book online, bag or box their items, and leave them on the doorstep — or request collection directly from the front door.

The service excludes soiled, ripped, damaged, wet, or bulky items such as furniture, duvets, pillows, mattresses, bicycles, and large appliances. Anglo Recycling manages all collections, while the council continues to handle bulky waste separately.

Funds raised from donations support local charities, helping communities across West Northamptonshire.
