You can now borrow The Factory Girls by Daisy Styles from Northamptonshire Central Library.

About the book:
January 1942.
With female conscription now in place, the Spitfire production line at the Bell Works factory is busier than ever.
When sisters Val and Kay arrive, they bring glamour as well as talent to the factory floor. Two beautiful singers, they are soon entertaining their co-workers after long shifts.
Meanwhile, Audrey is delighted to have caught the eye of a new male supervisor. But is he all that he seems?
With romance, heartbreak, painful goodbyes as well as joyful reconciliations all around, one thing is for sure - the women must pull together to keep their spirits up while doing their bit for the war effort.

Did you know that we have hundreds of books about Northamptonshire at Northamptonshire Central Library in Discover? From witches to World War 2, from steam trains to stately homes, and everything in between. There are books about your village or town, books about buildings we have loved and lost and their history. We have the poetry of John Clare and the political oration of Charles Bradlaugh, and of course our collection wouldn’t be complete without books about boots and shoes!

To find out more, visit the Discover department at Northamptonshire Central Library, which is open from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Friday.

Did you know that the BorrowBox app automatically uses a VoiceOver-optimised version of the eBook reader if it detects that VoiceOver is active on the device? This enables visually impaired users to easily navigate the eBook and offers options to select their preferred voice, pitch, and speech rate for the narration of eBooks. BorrowBox users have the benefit of being able to make these changes within the app, without having to adjust their general device settings.
The speech language gets selected automatically based on the book content, but can also be manually adjusted via the settings.
The VoiceOver settings for the narration of eBooks can be accessed via the AA button on the bottom left of the screen (in the non-VoiceOver version of the eBook reader this button opens settings for text size, font and themes).
