Councillor Rachel Waterman, Deputy Mayor helped to officially open Lostock Lodge Care Home’s new facilities. Lostock Lodge has recently undergone a significant refurbishment to better meet the needs of its residents with a redesign of facilities to enhance daily life, independence, and enjoyment which provides more opportunities for residents, families, and the local community to connect and spend time together.

Rachel said “I was honoured to deputise for Mayor Cernik today and loved meeting the children in the morning and the care home residents in the afternoon. As these were my first duties as Deputy Mayor I was surprised by how heavy the chain was and how much attention it got as I walked through town visiting the different groups of children as they planted up their plants. I can’t wait to see the flowers in bloom and brightening up our town.

Northwich Town Council is proud to be supporting plans for Northwich to become a Butterfly Friendly Town, one of only four in the country.

Twenty-five local schools helped plant pollinator-friendly flowers in dedicated town centre planters, creating a greener space for butterflies and other wildlife. Look out for the plaques recognising each school’s contribution when you’re in town.

A huge thank you to Visit Northwich, Cheshire Police, Cheshire West and Chester Council, Rotary and Butterfly Conservation for helping make this wonderful project a reality.
