PARISH COUNCIL MEETING

Please note that the meeting starts at 7.00pm. We are aware that there was an agenda published showing 7.30pm, that was posted in error.

The period for registering as a 'Person of Interest' regarding the East Pye Solar planning application closes at midnight on Wednesday 10 June. You have about 72 hours left, no more reminders will be issued as late applications will not be accepted.

Unless you're happy with 450,000 volt transmission equipment, batteries and transformers crackling away less than 400m from some properties and all the associated fire and contamination dangers this could bring, along with devastating reductions in property values, it will be a good idea to act now. Complaining after it has been given the green light will be futile.

Most residents will by now be aware that the new speed monitoring device has been installed. Initial data of vehicles travelling West along High Green reveals some interesting figures.

Hopefully the following will focus the attention of a few selfish and inconsiderate individuals who exist amongst us.

On Friday 22 May at 14.55 (a time when kids are coming home from school) one vehicle triggered the machine at 45mph. That's 50% over the limit. Shame on them whoever they are.

Food for thought:

In the 12 day measuring period the machine triggered:-
140 Instances of 30-35mph
15 instances of 35-40mph
Many of these were recorded during the working day.

That means every day of the week 13 vehicles exceed the speed limit.

URGENT REMINDER
The closing date for you to register as a person of interest in respect of the proposed East Pye Solar plans is less than two weeks away. It closes on Wednesday 10 June. Late submissions will not be accepted for any reason.
If you don't act now your voice will not be heard and your opinions will count for nothing.

At the conclusion of the 2025 remembrance service at St Michaels Church Great Moulton, Councillors expressed concerns about the poor state the war memorial had fallen into. The memorial commemorates the men from the village who during two World Wars gave their lives for their country. It was decided that the Parish Council would fund a project to have professional stonemasons renovate and clean it. We think the finished result is a fitting tribute to those individuals.

Thursday 21 May.
The new Speed Indication Device is now installed and working. It is currently on High Green monitoring traffic speeds of vehicles heading West. It will be moved around four approved locations at random times and can be set to monitor speeds in both directions.
This device now has the ability to report vehicle speeds and times allowing a trend analysis that if necessary can be sent to Norfolk County Council for possible speed limit changes and Norfolk Roads Policing to check hot-spots and times of day. It cannot record any actual vehicle details, this is a matter for the police to pursue and enforce.

Gore Lane Poster Removed.

The 'Say No to East Pye' poster at the corner of Gore Lane and Frith Way has been removed along with the supporting posts.
If someone kindly picked it up for safe keeping, would they please return it to Lorie Dunmore at Villiers View Frith Way as soon as possible.

The Parish Council provided funding for these posters out of Council Tax payers money for the benefit of the area. If this has been removed without permission it constitutes a criminal offence and if not returned by noon Monday 18 May, the BEPS group will report the incident to police as a crime.

It should also be noted that BEPS currently awaits reviewing CCTV footage from a nearby property.

Thank you.

Great Moulton Parish Council thanks our new County Councillor Margaret Thomas for attending the Council meeting on 14 May less than one hectic week after being elected.
We look forward to working with her in the future and are grateful for her spending time after the meeting engaging with Councillors and members of the public.

The Parish Council would like to extend its thanks and appreciation to the local resident who volunteered to clean the defibrillator telephone box in High Green. Following some restorative work by a local craftsman the box is now looking in pristine condition, It is regretful that this person also had to scrub graffiti from the sides of the box. Residents need to take stock of the fact that this box is there to save the lives of both adults and children. On the same subject the Council notice board by the village sign has been wilfully damaged by someone gouging lines across the transparent window. This is simply mindless criminal damage and needs to stop.

While we have your attention we have previously mentioned about individuals who are filling the High Green/Frith Way dog bin with large amounts of bags being placed in it in bulk. This is creating a health hazard and must stop, so will the person who repeatedly brings turquoise carrier bags full of smaller bags save themselves a journey and put them in their domestic black SNDC landfill bin where they're supposed to go.

Thank you.
