Norwich Unity Hub

Norwich Unity Hub Reviving Norwich spaces for community, creativity & connection. Where shared space meets shared purpose.

Last month at our Senses of Unity event, guests had the wonderful opportunity to get creative with Mud Hub, crafting their own beautiful clay flowers 🌿🎨
We’re delighted to share that the Mud Hub team have since carefully painted, fired, and glazed each piece in their community pottery... and they’re now ready to find their home in our gardens 🌼
You’ll soon spot them nestled within our Victorian sunken garden, adding pops of colour and charm. Each flower has been thoughtfully designed to hold a small amount of water, creating the perfect little drinking spot for visiting insects 🐝💧
A huge thank you to Mud Hub for bringing creativity, community, and a touch of nature together in such a special way 💚

A huge thank you to the wonderful gentlemen from Norwich Mens Shed who joined us on a beautifully sunny day last month to repair the seating in our amphitheatre 🌞🔨
Tucked away at the back of our grounds, this hidden gem is such a special space... and thanks to their hard work, it’s ready to be enjoyed. Just in time, too, as we prepare to host our very first wedding at Carrow House this weekend! 💍
The amphitheatre offers a truly magical setting, whether for a ceremony, arrival drinks, or a peaceful spot to relax away from the buzz of the day.
We’re so grateful to Norwich Men’s Shed, proud members of Norwich Unity Hub, for their time, skills, and community spirit. It means so much to have such fantastic people as part of our wider community 💚

✨ The Welcome Mat has arrived at Carrow House ✨

Now proudly displayed in the link building between old and new Carrow House, this beautiful 3 metre artwork is the first thing many people will see when they arrive 💛

Created by The Launchpad Collective over 3 years, The Welcome Mat was made by the hearts and hands of more than 250 participants from across the UK. It offers a heartfelt welcome to anyone forced to leave their home through conflict, persecution or climate change.

More than an artwork, it is a symbol of belonging, compassion and shared humanity. Through creativity and storytelling, the project has brought people from many different backgrounds together, reminding us that we have far more in common than divides us.

The Launchpad Collective supports refugees into work and champions the message that refugees enrich society.

If you are visiting Carrow House, do take a moment to see this incredible piece for yourself ✨

Last month, we received a call from the team at Jarrold Facilities Management, who were moving out of their premises and had a surplus of office items available for donation.
Naturally, it was a big yes please from us! With 50 organisations making up Norwich Unity Hub, there’s always something needed across our community.
We’re delighted to have been able to give many of these items a new home, including the booth pictured here, now installed at Carrow House. Other pieces have gone into the offices of our member organisations, supporting vital work happening every day.
We’re incredibly grateful to Jarrold Facilities Management for their generosity and support.
And with the new booth in place, we’ve created a dedicated space where our residents can work independently when they need some quiet time. 💙

A huge thank you to our members Deaf Connexions who kindly delivered a free BSL awareness workshop for our community at Carrow House last week 💙🤟

The session was insightful, engaging, and perfectly delivered by CEO Matthew Talbot, whose humour and personal anecdotes made the workshop both enjoyable and inspiring 😊✨

Deaf Connexions is a charitable incorporated organisation working across Norfolk to support the Deaf community, particularly those who use British Sign Language (BSL), while welcoming anyone experiencing hearing loss. Their work helps break down barriers, provide advocacy, and raise awareness of the challenges Deaf people can face 🌍💬

We are incredibly proud to have them as part of our community and grateful for the knowledge and understanding they continue to share 💚

Thank you from all of us at Carrow House 🙌

A big thank you today to Grapes Hill Community Garden, Norwich who very kindly donated a lemon tree to Carrow House 🍋

Sadly, the tree had grown a little too big for their greenhouse, but as many of you know… we have a VERY big one of our own - our beautiful Grade II listed Orangery 🏛️✨

The lemon tree has now been fed and watered and is settling into our nursery before making its grand debut...

We’re so grateful to Grapes Hill Community Garden for thinking of us. Communities supporting one another is something really special and something to be proud of!

Sending big love to them, and to all of you, as we head into the weekend☀️

You might already know Carrow House -but not like this 👀

We filmed a tour with a subtle twist… from the zombie spiders in the basement to the skeletons in the closet as a little nod to the stories old buildings tend to hold.

But beyond that, Carrow House means a lot to Norwich. Once home to the Colman family (of Colman’s Mustard), it represents a legacy that went far beyond business, creating real community through housing, education, and support for working families.

That same spirit is what we at Norwich Unity Hub are continuing today. With your support, we keep Carrow House as not just as a piece of history, but as a space for people, connection, and community.

A bit eerie, a lot of history, and still very much alive.

Come down to the grounds and take a look inside…
