Notice of NTRO11573, Rackheath, Great and Little Plumstead and Postwick with Witton

Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (NTRO11573) affecting A) A1270 Broadland Northway from its junction with A1151 Wroxham Road to its junction with A1270 Link Road (“Road A”) and B) A1194 Poppy Way from its junction with A1270 Broadland Northway to its junction with Poppy Way Roundabout (“Road B”) in the Parishes of Rackheath, Great and Little Plumstead and Postwick with Witton to facilitate gulley cleaning, w**d spraying and verge lowering works. The Roads A and B will be temporarily closed/restricted (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be between 19:00 and 06:00 from 19th to 23rd October 2026, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 4th December 2026 where the closure/restriction is still required beyond the anticipated dates.
Alternative route is via: Broadland Northway, A47, Yarmouth Road, Pound Lane, Ring Road, Laundry Lane, Saint Williams Way, Heartsease Lane, Mousehold Lane, Oaktree Drive, Wroxham Road (Sprowston, Thorpe St. Andrew, Rackheath, Great and Little Plumstead, Postwick with Witton).
The works promoter for this restriction/closure is: Norfolk County Council.
Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in the Roads A and B where signs indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place.
The Order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works/when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 4th December 2026 without further notice.
If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date the Order is effective.
A person who contravenes, or who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the restriction/closure imposed by the Order shall be guilty of an offence.
Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance.

Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (5712-2216-9918-0742) affecting Chartwell Road from its junction with Constitution Hill Roundabout to its junction with Wroxham Road Roundabout (eastbound lane only) (the “Road”) in the City of Norwich to facilitate wig-wag signal replacement works, the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be from 19th to 30th October 2026, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 11th December 2026 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.
Alternative route is via: Chartwell Road, Mile Cross Lane, Reepham Road, Cromer Road, Holt Road, Broadland Northway and Wroxham Road (Norwich, Hellesdon, Beeston St. Andrew, Spixworth, Horsford, Rackheath, Sprowston, Old Catton, Horsham St. Faith and Newton St. Faith).

Sprowston: Chartwell Road – Fire Station Wig-Wag lights, replacement starting October 2026

The replacement of the Fire Station Wig-Wag lights on Chartwell Road is due to start on 19 October 2026. The work is expected to take 11 days to complete, weather permitting.

This is part of a countywide traffic light replacement programme which involves updating traffic lights where necessary to ensure that they continue to meet current standards and work reliably and efficiently.

There will be a road closure on Chartwell Road throughout the works, with a one-way system in place. The road will be open to traffic heading Westbound from the Sprowston Road roundabout. The work will involve the removal and replacement of the Wig-Wag lights with new equipment.

In addition, the lane closure will allow Norfolk County Council to complete additional footway improvements, hedge trimming, gully cleaning and white lining refreshment works.

The County Council thanks people for their patience while this traffic light replacement work is carried out.

The work which will cost £90,000, will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Infrastructure Department and their contractors.
