The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for Norfolk, which will remain in place until 11pm on Friday, with extremely high temperatures all week.
The risk of wildfire greatly increases during the intense heat, so please help us by:
🌭 Not using disposable barbecues, and having picnics instead
🚮 Throwing litter in the bin or taking it home with you, as this can start a fire
🚬 Fully extinguishing and responsibly discarding your ci******es
If you’re thinking of spending time in or around water at our coast or waterways, please take care by:
📱 Going with someone else or in a group, taking a charged phone, and telling someone what time you expect to be back
🛟 Wearing a life jacket or buoyancy aid when you are on a boat or doing any water sports – put them on before you get into the water and keep them on until you are back on land
🗣️ Speaking up if your friends are doing something risky in the water – it could save their life
If you see a fire in the open or someone struggling in water, please call 999 immediately – do not put your life in danger. We would always advise having the what3words app downloaded to your phone, as it means our Control Room and crews can find you more quickly if you report something, particularly in rural areas.
The county has also been issued with a red health heat warning by the UK Health Security Agency, from 1am on Wednesday until 11pm on Thursday. Please take all precautions to keep yourself cool, hydrated and safe, and look out for those around you – particularly those who are elderly or vulnerable. Thank you Norfolk❤️
