We went out this morning and did a few bits of cleaning. Some of the road name signage couldn’t take much cleaning because the lettering was falling apart. I’ve reached out to highways to see if we can get new lettering.

The ‘S’ bend by Hall Rd is particularly dangerous and I’m hoping we can reduce the speed limit there but the criteria it has to meet means it’ll be a struggle. But we cleared the growth around it so at least the signage can be seen now.

Also: It’s coming home.

Road closure alert:

Louies Lane from its junction with Shelfhanger Rd to its junction with Factory Lane will be temporarily closed 8am to 6pm 30th June and may continue to be closed until 11th August. This is to facilitate pole replacement and overhead cabling works.

Diss Carnival was most excellent this year. Loved the imaginations of some of the floats. I’d love to do one next year based entirely on my love for Status Quo. Maybe a classic rock float…it’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock n roll.

Didn’t Hughes electrics used to be a cinema? Job losses in the town are shocking but maybe there’s an opportunity to bring a cinema back to Diss?

A total of 60 jobs are at risk as an electrical retailer is set to close eight sites at the end of the week.

I met with our Diss town Clerk and Mayor yesterday. Having seen them at the annual town meeting in April it was great to meet in person. There was so much agreement between us and it was such a pleasure to feel part of the process and begin the journey.

It’s carnival weekend so I can’t wait to see some of you out and about on Sunday.

The leader of the Green Party group in Norfolk County Council Maxine Webb has some words to say about our County County led by Reform.

I standby her words and would add that I am not shocked by Reform and Restore actions at all. They lead with petulant acts of division.
