NOTICE OF CO-OPTION OF PARISH COUNCILLOR (TWO POSITIONS)

The Electoral Services Department of Derbyshire Dales District Council has confirmed that the regulation 10 requests from electors have not been fulfilled and the Parish Council may now fill the two casual vacancies by co-option.

Notice is hereby given that two vacancies have arisen in the Office of Councillor for Carsington & Hopton Parish Council and we invite applicants to apply for co-option. It should be noted that the vacancies are specifically as follows:

One Vacancy – Carsington representative

One Vacancy – Hopton representative

​Any person willing to fill this vacancy should apply by the Friday 25th September 2026.

Following the recent resignations of Cllr Lou Corbett and Cllr Bex Cole-Morgan, we now have a two vacancies for a suitable person to join the Council. One of the vacancies is open for Hopton residents, the other for Carsington residents.

​Nominations for an election should be made to the Returning Officer at DDDC by Monday 14th September 2026.

Local Plan Review 2026

Derbyshire Dales DC are currently undertaking a 6 week consultation for the proposed Local Plan review.

To help members of the public find out more about how to submit a response to the consultation, Derbyshire Dales Planning Policy team are holding a number of public consultation events. The draft plan and supporting documents will be available to view, and District Councillors and Planning Policy officers will be on hand to answer questions. The first event is tomorrow - Tuesday 11 August - 2-7pm at Matlock Town Hall Committee Room (drop in any time during the event).

Events are also planned online via Teams on Tuesday 25 August 5-7pm and Tuesday 1 September 12-2pm (to request a link to the online meeting, please email [email protected]), and at Ashbourne Leisure Centre on Wednesday 9 September 2-7pm (drop in any time during the event).

VACANCY

Following the recent resignation of Cllr Lou Corbett after 15 years service, we now have a vacancy for a suitable person to join the Council.

Details of the Notice of Vacancy can be found attached. Nominations for an election should be made to the Returning Officer at DDDC by Tuesday 11th August 2026.

If no election is required, the vacancy will be filled by co-option.

We are delighted to have completed the installation of our fabulous new play tunnels on the village green. We are also improving the groundworks around our play area to make it as safe and enjoyable as possible.
