We’re currently in attendance at a fire on Curzon Street in the city centre.

Our joint fire control are receiving a large number of calls about this incident but please rest assured we are aware of the incident.

If you live nearby please keep your windows and doors closed as there is a large smoke plume.

Curious about connections from Nottingham's new walking and cycling bridge which opens this Tuesday 2 June?

If you're coming from the south / Lady Bay side of the river, the bridge will link you up with Colwick Country Park, Colwick Woods, the racecourse, retail park, Meadow Lane and onward to the city centre.

If you're coming from the north / city side of the river, the bridge will link you up with the City Ground and Trent Bridge as well as riverside walks to Holme Pierrepont and onwards plus national cycle route 15.

This fire was caused by a solar garden light ⚠️🔥

Last week, one of our recycling crews noticed smoke coming from the back of their collection vehicle 🚛 and had to empty the entire load into the street to prevent a much more serious vehicle fire.

🚒 Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service arrived quickly and safely extinguished the fire. The cause was later identified as a solar-powered garden light that had been incorrectly placed in a recycling bin.

Many electrical items contain lithium batteries 🔋, including small everyday items people might not think about. When waste and recycling is crushed inside collection vehicles, damaged batteries can ignite and cause serious fires.

Please do not place electrical items or battery-powered items in your household bins or recycling bins ❌🗑️

Instead, dispose of them safely at a dedicated recycling point ♻️

A huge thank you to our crews and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service 👏

🚫 Cracking down on illegal to***co and vapes in Nottingham 🚫

Two shops selling illegal to***co and va**ng products have been handed three-month closure orders following joint investigations by our Trading Standards and Nottinghamshire Police.

This is a fantastic example of partnership working to tackle illegal activity, protect public health and support legitimate businesses across our city.

A huge well done to our Trading Standards team and Nottinghamshire Police for their continued work investigating and disrupting the sale of illegal to***co and non-compliant vapes.

Illegal to***co and va**ng products:
⚠️ Undermine honest local businesses
⚠️ Evade tax
⚠️ Put residents at risk with unregulated products
⚠️ Can be more accessible to children and young people

🗣️ Have your say on community safety in Nottingham

We are supporting Nottinghamshire Police with Operation Reclaim, a partnership approach focused on tackling anti-social behaviour and improving safety across parts of the city ✅

As part of this work, Nottinghamshire Police are asking residents, businesses and visitors to complete a short survey to help shape future activity and understand local concerns.

Your feedback will help inform future partnership working and community safety activity across Nottingham.

Take the survey ⬇️

With the warmer weather continuing, we’re asking everyone to help keep Nottingham’s parks safe, clean and enjoyable for all ☀️🌳

This week, crews cleared large amounts of rubbish following a fire caused by an unattended BBQ at Flower Park.

As temperatures rise and grass becomes drier, fires can spread quickly and put people, wildlife and green spaces at risk 🔥

If you’re enjoying time outdoors:
🗑️ Please take litter home or use bins provided
🔥 Never leave BBQs or fires unattended
💛 Respect shared spaces and local communities

Thank you to the crews and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service who responded.

District heating network update ♨️

We’ve secured Government funding to support the next phase of Nottingham’s district heating network.

This work will help optimise performance, strengthen long-term resilience, and ensure the network continues to deliver reliable, cost-effective heat for residents.

🏡 Studies will take place in parts of St Ann’s and at Manvers Court, with the potential to benefit thousands of homes across the city.
