Green’s Windmill is a restored 19th Century tower mill, once home to mathematical physicist George Green. Working again since 1986, climb the windmill and see how our sails turn grain into flour. In our interactive Science Centre discover the remarkable story of George Green, and experiment with the things that fascinated him, such as light, electricity and magnetism. During your visit explore the award winning community garden, much like a typical garden from Green’s Day.

Mill Repairs Bulletin

It’s been a while since the last bulletin but we are pleased to say that lots of activity has taken place over the summer months, much of which has been carried out offsite by dedicated craft specialists. A new iron curb has been cast, machinery repaired or replaced, and a new cap frame and fan stage built. The top of the brick tower has also been renewed.

Replacement pieces will be arriving on site soon which means the Green’s Windmill repairs programme is about to commence the final stages of re-assembling and testing ready for the grand launch in spring 2027.

As a reminder, whilst the repairs are ongoing the mill shop, science centre and community garden remain open to the public Wednesday to Sunday 10am-4pm. Entry is free. We also have lots of events for children happening over the forthcoming half term, please see our website for details.
