East Midlands Reserve Forces & Cadets Association

East Midlands Reserve Forces & Cadets Association We champion, support and enable Reserve Forces and Cadets in the East Midlands. Our people add value.

CADETS AND YOUTH
We raise the profile of the adventures and achievements of Sea Cadets, Army Cadets and RAF Air Cadets in the East Midlands. For the Army Cadets, we also provide the support staff who maintain facilities, equipment and transport that enables their activity to take place, and support the recruitment of volunteers. ENGAGEMENT
On a national level, we are responsible for advising and a

ssisting the Defence Council, the Royal Navy, Army, and Royal Air Force on matters that concern Reserves and Cadets. Regionally, we build strong relationships โ€“ especially with employers through the Armed Forces Covenant and Defence Employer Recognition Scheme โ€“ to ensure the value of the Armed Forces community is recognised and that they are offered every opportunity to maximise their potential. Our volunteer members include representatives from local authorities, a wide variety of employers, charities, education, Cadet services and the military who act as local ambassadors. Together, we work to promote the value of, and recognition of, the Armed Forces community. Another key area of our work is to raise the awareness and understanding of both Reserves and Cadets in the East Midlands. ESTATES
We maintain 135 sites across the East Midlands to ensure Reserves and Cadets have safe and fit-for-purpose training facilities. We also generate additional revenue through the Alternative Venues hire programme which is re-invested to further benefit Reserves and Cadets.

Hat-trick for Loughborough Grammar School ๐Ÿ†

Huge congratulations to all of the Cadets and staff at Loughborough Grammar School Combined Cadet Force (CCF) for winning the Royal Air Squadron Trophy for an astonishing ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ซ๐ ๐ฒ๐ž๐š๐ซ ๐ข๐ง ๐š ๐ซ๐จ๐ฐ.

The trophy is the highest achievement a RAF Section of the CCF can earn.

After regional heats, 11 teams earned a spot in the finals at RAF Wittering. The competition featured six stands to test a range of skills and knowledge: space, command task, drill, first aid, cyber, and shooting.

Flight Lieutenant Joanne Smith, Officer Commanding, Loughborough Grammar School CCF (RAF), said: โ€œWith the Cadets having just finished their A Levels and GCSEs, it shows such determination by the team, especially as today was the first time that we got all the team together and then to win for the third year in a row."

๐Ÿ“น As we conclude our ๐‘ฐ๐’๐’”๐’Š๐’…๐’† ๐‘น๐‘ญ๐‘ช๐‘จ documentary series, we're proud to reflect on the breadth of our work in support of Defence.

In the third and final episode, which is now live on YouTube, we explore how our Defence Relationship Managers (DRMs) forge strong partnerships with employers and organisations across the region, helping to ensure that Armed Forces Personnel receive the support they deserve in the workplace.

We join Mark Simpson, one of our DRMs, as he supports Nottinghamshire County Council in revalidating its Gold Employer Recognition Scheme Award during a council meeting.

Later, we follow Mark to one of Nottinghamshire County Council's Reserves recruitment events at County Hall in West Bridgford, where the organisation's commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community is put into action.

A whole-of-society approach is essential to the Defence of the nation. Through the Armed Forces Covenant and the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, our Engagement team works with employers to strengthen support for Reservists, Veterans and the wider Armed Forces Community, ensuring they understand the vital role they play in national defence and resilience.

From Estates and Cadets & Youth to Engagement, Inside RFCA highlights the many ways our people make a difference to society.

While much of our work takes place behind the scenes, its impact is felt across Defence, our communities, and the lives of the Reserves and Cadets we proudly support.
