🚒 INCIDENT 🚒

At 06:34 this morning, the crew from Eastwood were mobilised to reports of a vehicle fire on Willey Lane, Moorgreen.

On arrival, crews found one van well alight. 2 breathing apparatus (BA) and 2 hose reel jets (HRJs) were deployed to tackle the fire and successfully extinguish it.

A big thank you to members of the public for your patience while the road was closed and crews worked to make the incident safe.

🚒 INCIDENT 🚒

Our busy day continued last night when, at 22:38, the Eastwood crew were mobilised to a house fire in Cotmanhay, Ilkeston alongside Ilkeston Community Fire Station, Heanor Fire Station & Stockhill Fire Station following reports that a person may have been trapped inside.

On arrival, 6 firefighters in breathing apparatus (BA) using 3 hose reel jets (HRJs) were quickly deployed to tackle the fire and carry out a search of the property.

Thankfully, the occupant was not at home.

One iguana was rescued by the service and handed over to a responsible person 🦎

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

🚒 INCIDENTS 🚒

The Eastwood crew have had a busy day so far, attending four separate incidents across the area.

08:47 – Crews were mobilised to reports of smoke in the area off Broad Lane, Brinsley. This was found to be controlled burning to the rear of a property. Advice was provided to the occupier.

11:53 – Crews attended a road traffic collision on Derby Road, Langley Mill, involving one vehicle that had left the carriageway. Thankfully, the driver had self-extricated before our arrival. Crews made the vehicle safe.

13:13 – Crews were requested to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service with gaining entry to a property in the Eastwood area.

16:47 – Crews were mobilised to a residential building fire in Ilkeston along with Ilkeston Community Fire Station, Heanor Fire Station & Highfields Fire Station. The incident involved a fire within a flat. Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were used to bring the fire under control whilst also evacuated the surrounding flats.

A busy day for the crew, with a wide range of incidents requiring a variety of skills and equipment. 👨‍🚒🚒

🚒 INCIDENTS 🚒

The crew from Eastwood were mobilised to two separate fires in the open during the night.

🔥 22:37 – Lamb Close, Newthorpe

Crews attended a large amount of fly-tipped waste that had been set alight. One hose reel was used to extinguish the fire. The Police have been informed of this incident.

🔥 05:51 – South Street, Eastwood

Crews were called to a rubbish fire in an alleyway off South Street. Water backpacks and buckets of water were used to extinguish the fire due to it being a considerable distance from the road.

A fire in the open can spread quickly especially in the current weather conditions. Please follow current advice not to have any outdoor fires and always call 999 if you discover a fire that is out of control.

🚒 UPDATE 🚒

Over the past few weeks, our on-call firefighters at Eastwood Fire Station have shown incredible commitment during one of the busiest periods of the year.

The prolonged hot weather has seen our crew respond to a significant number of incidents across Eastwood and Nottinghamshire. As an on-call station, every firefighter gives up their own time to respond while balancing full-time employment, family life and other commitments. For many, that has meant interrupted sleep, long days and answering the pager time and time again to help those in need.

Unfortunately, during this exceptionally busy period we haven’t been able to share updates on every incident or post on social media as regularly as we normally would. Our focus has rightly been on responding to emergencies and protecting our communities.

To every member of our crew, thank you for your commitment, professionalism and selflessness over the past few weeks. We’d also like to thank your families and employers, whose continued support makes it possible for our on-call firefighters to serve the community.

We’re incredibly proud of the commitment shown by everyone at the station in helping to keep Eastwood and Nottinghamshire safe. Thank you to everyone in our community for your continued support.

🚨INCIDENT🚨

Today, crews from Eastwood Fire Station were deployed to Tintwistle Moor to support our colleagues from Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service at a large moorland fire.

Our firefighters were tasked with crewing firefighting jets to help contain the fire, limit its spread and protect the surrounding moorland. Incidents like these require a coordinated response, with crews working together in challenging conditions to prevent further damage.

As the warm, dry weather continues, we’d like to remind everyone to take extra care when visiting the countryside. Please don’t use disposable barbecues on open land, dispose of smoking materials responsibly, and never leave litter behind, as even small items such as glass bottles can increase the risk of fire.

If you see a fire in the countryside, move to a safe location and call 999 immediately.

🐈 LOST CAT 🐈‍⬛

UPDATE 15:30 🐈

Unfortunately he isn’t microchipped so please share so we can locate his owner 🙏

We appear to have gained a new member of our fire station. Unfortunately we cant find any fire kit that will fit.

If this is your cat we have managed to catch it and we are currently taking it to Brinsley Animal rescue to see if its micro chipped.

🚒 INCIDENTS 🚒

Yesterday, the crew from Eastwood had a very busy day responding to incidents across Nottinghamshire.

One of the most significant was a bungalow fire in Toton, which at its height, required 7 fire appliances from Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire on scene. Crews worked tirelessly in challenging conditions to bring the fire under control and prevent further damage.

A huge well done to all personnel involved for their hard work, professionalism, and dedication to keeping our communities safe. 👏
