💚 Good luck to all of our amazing Year 6 children who start their SATs tomorrow! 🌟

You have all worked so hard and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of you already. Remember, SATs are just one small moment and they do not define how talented, kind, creative or brilliant you are.

Get a good night’s sleep, believe in yourselves and do your best, that is all anyone can ask. We’ll all be cheering you on! 💚

🌟🧁 A big thank you to Carla Skilbeck, an ex pupil who ran a fantastic after school Fundraiser. She managed to raise a whopping £357, all of which is profit and will be kindly donated to the FOGS fund. She undertook the project as part of her Duke of Edinburgh award, we are very thankful that she chose us!
Thank you to everyone who came along to help and support the event. 🎂🌟

📚✨Last week, four of our children attended the Aspire Trust Poetry Finals at Langar C of E Primary. We had a wonderful time listening to pupils from other Trust schools perform their poems.

Our children were understandably nervous when it came to sharing their own work—but they really didn’t need to be! A huge well done to Ella, Sebby, Elodie and Layla. You represented yourselves and Gunthorpe brilliantly: there were big smiles, no sign of nerves, and your voices were clear and confident throughout.

It was truly a special event to be part of. A special mention goes to Sebby, who received a ‘Highly Commended’ award—what an achievement!
We are already looking forward to planning what we might perform next year. 📚✨

📚✨ A very special World Book Day surprise! ✨📚

On World Book Day, our Junior 2 children wrote letters to some of their favourite authors, including David Walliams and Mark Lowery.

We were absolutely delighted to receive replies from both authors! This truly made the children’s day and the teachers’ too!

A huge thank you to David Walliams and Mark Lowery for taking the time to respond and inspire our young readers. It’s a moment the children won’t forget anytime soon. 💫📖

🌟 Welcome to our Reception Class of September 2026! ✨ 💚

We are absolutely delighted to welcome all of our new children and their families who have been offered a place with us. We can’t wait to begin this exciting journey together and look forward to seeing our newest learners grow, thrive and shine.

We will be in touch soon with details of a ‘stay and play’ session, which will be a lovely opportunity for children to start getting to know their new environment.

Alternatively, if you would like to book sessions in our pre-school during the Summer term to help your child settle into school ahead of September, please contact the school office.

🌟 We still have a number of places available for September 2026 in our Pre-School, Reception and across the year groups. If you are considering a school place for your child, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch to arrange a visit or to have a chat with our friendly team.

At Gunthorpe C of E Primary School, we are incredibly proud of our strong sporting spirit and the opportunities we provide for all of our children 🏅

Recently our Year 5/6 pupils represented us brilliantly at the indoor athletics event at South Notts Academy, showing determination, resilience and great sportsmanship throughout.

We were also thrilled to host an inter-school tag rugby festival on the Gunthorpe Village Hall playing field, welcoming teams from St Peter’s Primary School (East Bridgford) and Orston Primary School. It was a fantastic afternoon of sport, teamwork and community spirit and we’re especially proud that both of our Gunthorpe teams were overall winners! 🏉

A huge thank you to Robin from RBS Sports Development for organising such a brilliant event – you can find out more about his work here: https://www.rbsportdevelopment.com

We’d also like to extend our thanks to Gunthorpe Village Hall for kindly allowing us to use the playing field.

A special thank you to our amazing PTA, who organised a wonderful selection of cakes and refreshments for the event. Your support and generosity were greatly appreciated by everyone and helped make the afternoon even more enjoyable 🍰

Well done to all of our pupils for representing our school so positively – you make us proud every day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mums, grandmas and special people who care for our children. Thank you for all the love, support and encouragement you give every day. 💐

We know that today can feel different for everyone, so we are also thinking of those who find Mother’s Day difficult or who no longer have their mums with them. ❤️

It was lovely to welcome so many families to our recent Mother’s Day afternoon in school. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and a big thank you to the dads who helped serve the teas and coffees!
