Culture Day this Friday

We are proud of the diverse community we have at Bulwell Academy and invite students to come to school wearing clothing that represents their culture. We look forward to celebrating the many backgrounds, traditions and identities that make our academy such a special place.

πŸ†πŸ“š WHO WILL BE OUR HOMEWORK HEROES? πŸ“šπŸ†

At The Bulwell Academy, we believe that hard work deserves recognition, progress deserves celebration, and going the extra mile should never go unnoticed!

This week, we’re on the lookout for three very special students who have truly stood out in their approach to homework.

🌟 One English Homework Hero from each year group
🌟 One Maths Homework Hero from each year group
🌟 One Science Homework Hero from each year group

Our Homework Heroes aren’t necessarily the students who get everything right or achieve the highest scores.

They’re the students who inspire us with their effort, determination, improvement and commitment to learning.

Perhaps they’ve made extraordinary progress in their accuracy. Perhaps they’ve transformed their homework completion, overcome challenges, shown remarkable consistency or simply demonstrated an attitude towards learning that deserves to be celebrated.

There are so many ways to be a Homework Hero, and we want to recognise them all!

πŸ† Fifteen heroes. Three prizes. One big celebration!

Our teachers will be selecting their Homework Heroes for this half term, with the winners revealed and their prizes awarded this Friday! 🎁

Could it be you?

Keep working hard, keep aiming high and remember: every bit of effort counts!

Our week-long Readathon continues today at The Bulwell Academy!

This is a celebration of literacy, aimed at getting everyone engaged and excited with reading.

What do we have going on this week?

The Big Bulwell Book will be hopping from classroom to classroom, sparking half an hour of silent reading everywhere it visits.

Our Reception Reading Relay will showcase a marathon of continuous reading throughout the week.

Each person at Bulwell will be invited to go online and log their reading minutes so we can calculate an overall Bulwell total for the week. Let's beat last year's target!!

A rolling selection of exceptional examples of Bulwell creative writing will be displayed on the morning Courtyard screen for students to read and promote our Readathon. Each day one of these examples of outstanding Bulwell literacy will be posted on social media with an added audio recitation.

Get involved everyone and enjoy our Readathon!

DAILY ATTENDANCE UPDATE
Attendance matters!

Did you know? A student is three times more likely to achieve a grade-5 in both Maths and English if they have 95% attendance or above.

The Bulwell Academy works hard in supporting every child to access their full potential. The more we attend, the more we achieve – not to mention the incentives, rewards, prizes and trips you might be missing out on.

Be in school. Be on time. Be successful.

Today's total school attendance sits at 91.31%. Year 7 achieved the highest today at 95.91%.

This week we have a Halloween-themed attendance rewards week - NO TRICKS, JUST TREATS. Compared to some spooky things, school isn't scary at all.

Every student who attends every day this week will be entered into our daily NO TRICKS, JUST TREATS attendance prize draw. Prizes include Slick City passes, cinema vouchers, JD Sports gift cards, Greggs vouchers and lots of sweets and treats.

The better your attendance, the bigger your prize. Higher attendance = Bigger rewards.

Hello Yellow Day - Friday 9th October

Last Friday was HELLO YELLOW day at The Bulwell Academy and across the UK – a day to promote the importance of positive mental health and wellbeing. This is especially important for young people.

On HELLO YELLOW day we welcomed everyone to wear a yellow accessory to show support and the whole school was invited to our lunchtime Mental Health Awareness Fair where there were lots of stands and activities in the courtyard.

Check out these happy pictures from our lunchtime Hello Yellow photoshoot. Many thanks to our photographers Callum, Claudia and Lucas and also all of the smiling supermodels.

The UK’s leading Mental Health charity, Young Minds, says: β€œWear yellow and say hello as we celebrate 10 years of standing out, starting conversations and raising funds - so no young person feels alone with their mental health.”
