Just flagging this post by our MP. Here is an opportunity for people to have a say about local government restructuring options.

** FINAL CHANCE TO HAVE YOUR SAY ON LOCAL GOVERNMENT PROPOSALS **

Yesterday, a statutory consultation was launched on three proposals for new local government structures in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. This consultation will run until Thursday 26th March.

** PLEASE HAVE YOUR SAY IN THE OFFICIAL CONSULTATION **

Thousands of people think that they have had their say by signing petitions online – but those petitions are 12 months old and there are now three firm proposals on the table being considered by the government. If you care about this issue, make sure you have your say.

You can look at the three proposals here:

https://lgrnotts.org/nottingham-and-nottinghamshire

And complete your response here:

https://consult.communities.gov.uk/local-government-reorganisation/nottinghamshire-and-nottingham/consultation/

As the minister said, “I would like to hear the views of all those interested in these proposals, including local residents, town and parish councils, residents’ associations, businesses and the voluntary and community sector”.

Note that MPs are NOT a named consultee – so while I will be responding and engaging ministers, please don’t lobby me in the hope that this will be more impactful than completing the consultation!

A public petition has been created for people to sign to show the planning inspector that the village are against the new third floor on the 2 Bunny Lane development. If you feel that the development shouldn’t be going ahead then please feel free to sign the petition and share with fellow residents who also may feel strongly regarding the site.

Stop the extension to create a new third floor.

Keyworth is shining a little brighter this year. For the first time, the Parish Council has installed a village Christmas tree, just in time for the much-loved Keyworth Festivities Day on Saturday 6th December.

The tree, now standing proudly in the heart of the village, adds a warm and cheerful glow to this year's celebrations. It marks a new tradition for Keyworth, bringing a festive focal point that residents can enjoy throughout December. Keyworth Parish Council would like to thank everyone who has helped make this long hoped addition a reality ensuring the tree was safely installed and beautifully presented for all to enjoy.

The timing couldn't have be better, with Festivities Day taking place tomorrow, the new tree provides a perfect backdrop to the day's events. From choirs in the square, craft stalls, and Christmas raffles, to local history displays, children's activities, and Father Christmas himself making an appearance, this year's programme has something for everyone. Highlights include performances from Keyworth Choir, Crossdale School Choir, and Keyworth Primary School Choir, plus festive stalls spread across the village from the Methodist Church to George Martyn's Barn.

The Parish Council hopes the Christmas tree will become an annual tradition, which will bring even more atmosphere and community spirit to the village.

As anticipation builds for Festivities Day, the new tree stands as a symbol of hard work, pride, and the joyful season ahead.

With the weather changing and winter setting in, the Friary’s support is more vital than ever. Each day, over 40 people sleeping rough visit the centre, many arriving with soaked clothes, sleeping bags and shoes. The team face the huge task of replacing these essential items so people can stay warm, dry and safe.
This is where you can help.
We’re asking our community to come together and donate new or pre-loved items such as tents, sleeping bags, warm clothes, trainers and food.
The collection will take place at the villages’ Festivities Day on the 6th of December.
Every donation, big or small, makes a real difference to someone facing the harsh winter weather.
Together, we can improve lives.
