Nottingham Women's Library

Nottingham Women's Library Located in the Nottingham Women's Centre . See www.nottinghamwomenscentre.com for infos. https://cloud.collectorz.com/nwclib/books

https://www.nottinghamwomenscentre.com/nwlibrary We're based on the top floor (2nd floor, bear in mind, there's no lift)at the Nottingham Women's centre. After a successful launch event attended by special guests Kat Banyard, feminist author and founder of UK Feminista, and the Sheriff of Nottingham Cllr Jackie Morris, the lending library is now open for all women to use.Women’s libraries are n

ow in scarce supply across the country and the new Nottingham Women’s Centre library is the only one of its kind in the East Midlands. The library still holds most of the original – and often rare – books donated in the 1970s/80s when the library was first set up, as well as more contemporary works. The space has been refurbished with support from Awards for All, the Co-operative Membership (Central and Eastern Region), the East Midlands Airport Development Fund, Nottingham Girls High School, Experian and the time and hard work of many committed women.Books will be available for borrowing to all members of the Centre – and you can search our catalogue online!

Introducing our next host (this time from Nottingham City of Literature), Nottingham Women's Library.

Founded in 1971 and completely volunteer-run, this library offers a unique space dedicated to feminist literature, women’s activism, and literary engagement. For over 50 years, it has provided a safe and welcoming haven for women across Nottingham, offering education, support and one of Nottingham’s most unique library collections.

They were also featured in this collaboration we did with Books+Publishing about libraries in the Cities of Literature network: https://www.booksandpublishing.com.au/articles/2025/10/02/312232/nottingham-womens-library-staying-true-to-community-roots/

They are looking for a woman writer to inspire their community to reflect creatively on the power and purpose of libraries and women’s spaces.
