Cultural heritage is a valuable part of a nation’s identity.

In Eastwood people like Milan Radulovic understand that.

Cultural heritage plays a crucial role in our lives and history, influencing the values, beliefs, and sense of belonging to a community

More of this please 🫶

Fostering community pride in our culture, heritage & history

Wonderful piece of Street art in Eastwood commissioned by Broxtowe Borough Council & Eastwood Town Council depicting the rich heritage of the local coal mining industry

Cultural heritage is a reflection of society, and its preservation is vital for maintaining cultural diversity, fostering a sense of belonging, and passing down knowledge to future generations.

And as the artist Anna Wheelhouse says ‘Our aim is to make people smile, brighten up the high street and rejuvenate the area much like the success in other parts of Broxtowe’

Thanks to Anna and Z Smagala for highlighting this important part of our history. ❤️

Even though most of our cllrs have full time jobs they try and fit in as many community activities as possible.

Today for example :-

Cllr Helen Skinner, attended a Coffee morning at St Barnabas Church, Inham Nook sorted out a resident’s issue and then went to peel vegetables for tonight’s Community Meal at House 💁🏼‍♀️

Cllr Gabrielle Bunn & Colin Tideswell attended the Beeston CEG meeting 💻

Shaun Dannheimer was sorting out residents concerns with dog poo and dangerous parking down the Rylands 💩

Cllr Ross Bofinger was out planting fruit trees at Pasture Rd with Broxtowe Borough Council as part of the clean up your estate project. He then went on to the Dig-In Community Allotment to help out with some 3 & 4 years old from a local nursery. 🌳

Cullen was in talks about how we could help refugees with the work undertaken by Hope Nottingham, All Welcome Erewash & Broxtowe Community Projects. 🤝

Busy busy community day ❤️❤️

Proud our Cllrs put their residents before their careers and voted against this cruel Winter Fuel Allowance 🤝

Proud our Cllrs put their residents before their careers and voted against this cruel Winter Fuel Allowance 🤝

Over 650,000 of you signed our Winter Fuel Payment petition, showing your support for older people in the UK.

Today we handed in the petition to the Government, showing them how important it is to listen to the voices of older people and our supporters.

This winter has heartbreakingly shown that older people on low incomes and in vulnerable circumstances need more support with high energy prices that are expected to remain high for years to come.

Thank you to everyone for your support as we keep fighting for older people 💜

We couldn’t put it better ourselves - so much more than a Food Bank 🤝

We couldn’t put it better ourselves - so much more than a Food Bank 🤝

Did you know food banks provide more than food? 🤔

Many food banks also provide advice on money matters and connect people to practical support to make it less likely they’ll need to turn to a food bank again.

Plus, staff and volunteers are always there for a cuppa and a chat when people are going through tough times. ☕ 💚

This extra support can be a lifeline – especially in winter.

If you can, please donate to help make sure food banks can continue to be there for everyone who needs them right now 👉 https://bit.ly/4jNQOvI

💥Maggie McGrath - a man who is on your side, RE-ELECT him as your County Councillor 💥

“I’m a working class man with working class values and I love my home town.

Many of you will know I have had the privilege of serving you as a Labour councillor at Town, Borough and as your sitting County Councillor for many years. I am asking you now to give me your vote again, this time as an Independent Voice for Stapleford & Broxtowe Central.

After 20 years, I decided to leave the party behind in January after many of my hardworking, competent colleagues were treated so badly and blocked from standing for county.

Good councillors told they weren’t suitable because they wanted to stick up for older people and asked Mr Starmer to reconsider cuts to the winter fuel allowance, and keep our seniors warm in their homes this winter.

Our brilliant local Councillor, Sue Paterson who works tirelessly for the Stapleford community, was passed over by Labour for a person from Beeston, who I barely know and who doesn’t set foot in Stapleford from one week to the next. I don’t think that’s right.

The person representing you at County Council should be willing to stand shoulder to shoulder with you, be from the area, know the area and want to protect it from being swallowed up into Nottingham city (who don’t have any money for the folk they already serve). Labour is making plans for this to happen and it is in our best interests to stop it from happening.

I was born, raised and settled down in stapleford with my wife, Jane, also a local woman. I worked on the railways before becoming a postie and running a local pub, the Old Cross. We had our kids here, Sarah and Katie, who now are grown up and working locally.

I want to improve things for everyone. That’s why I support organisations such as Awsworth FC, Stapleford Town FC, The Haven Centre and community projects put on by the Awsworth, Cossall and Trowell Parish Councils. I’ve been working on the Steven Gerrard Football Academy at Hickings Lane since the start of the project which will also be providing post 16 education for our local youths, in football, sport science and media making it the only further education centre in Stapleford. I’m determined to make the new Pencil Works the best it can be for Stapleford town centre.

I’ve been working hard at County Council getting our roads improved, getting VIA out to look at our flood defences and representing you on the Executive Committee responsible for the Towns Deal fund.

I will never run out of passion to help the good folk in my home town and in the villages surrounding us.

My community is at the heart of my life and that is what a vote for me will get for you. 🗳️ ❤️”
