Bosworth Battlefield tells the story which changed the course of history in 1485, when two Kings, Richard III and Henry VII fought over the Crown of England, and Henry established the powerful Tudor dynasty. Visitors can experience what this famous turning point in British history really meant by exploring what it was like to fight in medieval battles, discover how the true location of the Battle of Bosworth was found or explore the Country Park and walk the Bosworth Trail.

This Saturday, 12 September, Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre invites you to attend our Heritage Open Day, running as part of a wider, national campaign. Discover this important heritage site in the heart of Leicestershire and uncover the story of two of our most famous monarchs.

Explore our award-winning exhibition where you can learn what lead up to the battle, what happened on that fateful day in August 1485, and what the aftermath was like. To really bring the history to life, talk to one of our passionate volunteers.

Have you ever wondered how your ancestors once lived? What they did in their day-to-day life? How they prepared for battle? From the clothes they wore, the equipment they used, they food they ate, and the weapons they made:

This weekend, Saturday 29 August to Monday 31 August, 10am to 4pm come visit the 15th Century campsite of the Household of Sir Walter Devereux, The Lord Ferrers, loyal supporters of the House of York. They’ll be portraying military and civilian life through out the period we bring the past back to life in stunning and interactive displays.

The camp is arranged to how it would have been during the 100 years of the ‘Wars of the Roses’, staying, eating, and living in traditional period tents.

The Gift shop and exhibition at Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre will be closed today whilst we tidy up after a truly brilliant Medieval Festival weekend. We will be back open as normal on Tuesday 25th August ( 10am to 5.00pm - last entry to exhibition at 4.00pm) . We look forward to seeing you then.
