We are an 'Outstanding' 11-16 school with academy status situated in the market town of Oakham, Rutland.

We are based in a state of the art new building educating students from Rutland, Melton and the wider Leicestershire area. This is a forum used by students, parents and alumni of the College to improve communication. It is not an appropriate forum for argument, criticism, self promotion or advertising a business. We welcome other users provided their commentary is not in any way derogatory to any

A brilliant start for our new Year 7 students! From ID photos and settling into new classrooms to enjoying science, art & design, drama and sport, it’s been great to see them getting involved and making the most of their first few days at College.

Our English Scholars enjoyed a trip to Tolethorpe to watch the youth production of Animal Farm. Despite the hot weather, the performance was outstanding and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
We were especially proud to see several former English Scholars and Catmose alumni performing in the production. Following the show, our students had the opportunity to take part in an engaging Q&A session with the cast and directors, gaining valuable insight into the production and performance process.
The visit was a wonderful way to round off the year, and we look forward to providing many more exciting opportunities for our English Scholars this year.

We are delighted to invite prospective students and their families to join us at our Open Evening on Wednesday 30 September 2026 from 5.00 – 7.30pm, with guided tours of our outstanding facilities and unique educational offer.
Staff and students look forward to welcoming you and giving a flavour of College life and answering any questions you may have.
There will be information available regarding extracurricular activities, including Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, team sports and Electives, as well as classroom demonstrations in Science and Art. There will also be performances from our music and drama students.
Our Principal, Stuart Williams, welcomes you to his presentation at 5.45pm and 6.45pm, along with our head students, there is no need to book for the presentation.

After a successful year for our sports teams, we are looking forward to the new academic year. Term 1 sees our netball and football teams competing against local secondary schools, and we wish them every success.

If you’re interested in the sporting opportunities available at Catmose College, including our sport scholarship programme, we invite you to attend our Open Evening on Wednesday 30 September, from 5.00pm to 7.30pm, where staff will be available to share more about how students can get involved.

Recently, our Year 9 and 10 students successfully completed their Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expeditions.
Throughout the DofE programme they gained essential skills and attributes for work and life such as resilience, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and drive, enhancing CVs, university, and job applications.
Building self-esteem and friendships were considered by our students to be some of the main benefits of participating in the programme.
To find out more about the DofE programme at Catmose College, please join us at our Open Evening on Wednesday 30 September from 5.00 until 7.30pm. Meet with our students and staff, enjoy tours of our outstanding facilities and get a flavour of life as a student at Catmose College and our unique educational offer.

The French exchange was an amazing experience, not only did I build a completely new friendship with my partner, and some of her friends, but I strengthened friendships I already had by the shared experience. It was so interesting seeing how someone my age in another country lived- it’s so different. It was also incredibly character building and required me to find confidence and peace in being independent and making a place for myself, especially with the language barrier. Talking of the language barrier, I developed my french hugely in the sense that not only did I expand my vocabulary, but I learnt to tune in, structure in a more casual way, and keep up in conversation; the french talk very fast. Finally, I really enjoyed the experiences and trips we went on, such as Par Astérix, Paris (the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, museums), and obviously Harry Potter world on the home leg.

Our Year 11 students are celebrating an impressive set of GCSE results, reflecting their hard work, determination and resilience.
70% achieved Grade 4 or above in both English and Mathematics, while 50% achieved Grade 5 or above in both subjects. A fantastic 70% also achieved five or more Grade 4+ grades, including English and Mathematics.

We are also celebrating many outstanding individual performances, with students achieving impressive collections of Grade 7-9 results.

A huge congratulations to all of our students. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved and wish them every success as they take their next steps.

Huge congratulations to our talented Art students for their incredible achievements in this year’s Rotary Art Competition!
Charlie achieved an outstanding 2nd place in both the Local and District competitions, while Naomi also secured 2nd place at both Local and District level. Robin took 1st place in the Intermediate Local competition, and Lilyana and Chloe were both recognised with a Highly Commended award.
We are incredibly proud of all of your creativity, hard work and success. Well done to everyone involved.

After four weeks of auditions, we are delighted to announce the cast for our production of Much Ado About Nothing.
The standard of auditions was exceptionally high, making the final decisions incredibly difficult. Year 12 Harington students Anna, Ailee and Eliza helped to organise and run the final auditions, supporting the casting process.
We are incredibly excited to see the creativity, talent, commitment and energy that each member of the cast will bring to this fantastic production. Well done to everyone who auditioned, and a huge congratulations to our cast!
