RAF Odiham HIVE The HIVE is an information network available to all members of the service community, serving both married and single personnel, together with their families.

RAF Odiham is home to the United Kingdom’s Chinook Force and JSFAW and is situated approximately 2 ½ miles from J5 on the south side of the M3. Odiham, a particularly attractive village, is located north-east of the airfield, and has a good selection of shops, as well as a sub-post office and branches of Lloyds and Barclays banks. The nearest towns are Farnham and Basingstoke. Farnham is an historic town with a twelfth century castle with a good choice of shops, restaurants and arts and crafts. Basingstoke is situated to the north-west and has a large shopping centre as well as a leisure centre (with ice rink, swimming pool, bowling alley, sports centre, bingo hall and cinema complex), and a large Sainsbury, Tesco, Morrison’s and Asda supermarkets. There are four Service Families Accommodation areas associated with RAF Odiham: Burghfield is located 20 miles away on the outskirts of Reading, Church Crookham is located 7 miles away near to Fleet, Alton again is located 7 miles away to the south of Odiham and there are also quarters located just outside the main gates to RAF Odiham. The Single Living Accommodation is located on the station. Both Odiham and Church Crookham have a bus service which connects with the nearest train stations of Hook and Fleet. The Hook and Fleet train stations are on the Waterloo line and regularly travel into London and to Southampton. Alton SFA is within walking distance of the train station, which again has trains to London and the south. Burghfield has a bus service to the nearest town of Reading, which has bus and train services to all the major towns and cities. Odiham is 11/2 hours from Gatwick Airport and 40 minutes from Southampton Airport.

BFPO will continue to process and dispatch all Operational mail throughout the Christmas period. However, the latest safe posting date for overseas firm‑base locations will be brought forward to 30 October 2026.

Families and friends are strongly encouraged to post early wherever possible. After this date, BFPO cannot guarantee delivery before Christmas, and some items may not arrive until the New Year. Please also factor in current customs import processes, which may add extra time to final delivery.

Customers are reminded of the following:

• All mail items sent to a BFPO address must include a customs declaration form, as required under international import/export regulations.
• Items arriving at BFPO Northolt without a customs declaration will be returned to sender. Non‑compliant items without a return address may be disposed of as undeliverable in line with UK Mail Industry Standards.
• BFPO does not offer a guaranteed timed service and holds no liability for items that are perishable, out of date, or unusable upon receipt.

Wraparound Childcare (WAC) - Armed Forces Personnel Portal Beta Testing.

As part of the continued development of the Armed Forces Personnel Portal (AFPP), Defence are preparing to commence the next phase of Beta testing for the Wraparound Childcare (WAC) service. They are seeking current or recent WAC users who may be interested in supporting this important activity. User participation is essential to ensuring the service meets the needs of Service Personnel and their families and has been tested by representative users prior to wider release.

Survey Deadline - The Expression of Interest survey will close at 2359hrs on Fri 23 Oct 26.
Only individuals who complete the survey by this deadline will be considered for participation in the Beta testing programme.
The Beta testing programme is currently planned to commence from Mon 2 Nov 26 and may be conducted across multiple iterative testing periods. This approach will enable the AFPP team to gather user feedback, implement improvements and, where required, re-test enhancements before wider release.
