Following the opening in Dublin, it was a privilege to see the London opening of National Archives of Ireland ’s "The Story Of Us" at The British Academy .

The evening brought together guests to speak on Ireland’s history, including Director of the National Archives of Ireland Orlaith McBride, Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport Patrick O'Donovan and Ambassador of Ireland to the UK Ambassador Martin Fraser.

A standout aspect of the event was the presence of two UK based centenarian ambassadors, whose lived experiences continue to connect past and present in a powerful way.

Our thanks again to the National Archives of Ireland for the opportunity to help shape and deliver such a significant and far-reaching exhibition.

David was delighted to attend the formal opening of the Ham Hill Visitor Centre at this popular country park and Iron Age Hillfort in Somerset.

He has supported the £2.5m project as The National Lottery Heritage Fund mentor since 2023, helping to ensure Heritage Fund investment delivers the intended outcomes and investment principles.

The new build visitor centre, cafe and exhibition are already proving a huge hit with over 40,000 visitors since December alone. The opening was a busy and joyful occasion with hundreds of invitees, members of the public, volunteers and representatives from NLHF and Somerset Council.

Congratulations to the HAM HILL Country park team on a great project.

At Strokestown Park, the historic Gazebo Tower has stood quietly in the Walled Garden since the 18th century. It now houses a new permanent exhibition, opening up a space many visitors hadn’t explored before.

Working closely with the team at Strokestown and The Irish Heritage Trust, we helped shape an experience that brings together voices from across the estate’s past, from those who lived there to those who worked the land, using a mix of interpretation, audio and digital elements.

At the centre of the space is a circular table installation, designed to reflect three different perspectives:
• The ladies of the house, through the details of afternoon tea
• An estate carpenter, with the tools and textures of his trade
• A garden boy, represented through objects from the working garden

Accessibility was a key consideration throughout, with digital access ensuring the story can be experienced by everyone.

A really enjoyable project to be part of, and now open for visitors to experience.

We were so proud to be at the launch of the 1926 Census and to help bring the exhibit “The Story of Us: Independent Ireland and the 1926 Census” to life.

An incredible launch, with inspiring talks from An Taoiseach Micheál Martin, Minister for Arts, Culture, Communications, Media and Sports Patrick O’Donovan, and Director of the National Archives Órlaith McBride.

It was truly special to hear from Ireland’s centenarians today. Their stories, their memories and their reflections on a century of change in Ireland were unforgettable.

A huge thank you to the entire National Archives of Ireland team for their dedication and vision in delivering such an important and powerful project. We’re honoured to have played a part in telling this story.

Last week, Órlaith spoke at the Irish Museums Association Annual Conference, held at Monaghan County Museum on the Peace Campus.

The theme this year was “Shared Futures: Museums as Spaces of Belonging.” Orlaith spoke about co-curation and community engagement and the different ways people can encounter history and heritage.

Across the conference, there was lots of discussion about what genuine collaboration with communities looks like in practice, and how museums can create spaces where people feel welcome and represented. Accessibility was also a big theme and how making spaces and content more accessible often makes them more interactive and engaging for everyone.

It was great to be part of the conversation and to hear about the work others across the sector are doing.

The Changing Farming Fortunes exhibition is now open at Johnstown Castle.

Developed in collaboration with the Irish Heritage Trust at the Irish Agricultural Museum, the exhibition tells the story, through graphics, videos, and games, of how the estate transformed from a 19th-century farm into a centre for scientific research, highlighting how soil science helped improve Irish farming and support sustainable food production.

It also marks the start of the reinvention of the museum, the biggest update since it opened in 1978.
