As crews continue to damp down hot spots at the Promise School, with two pumps and an aerial ladder platform in attendance, the community continues to show its support to the firefighters at the incident by providing food and refreshments.

The support, not just for us, but for everyone affected has been truly overwhelming by local business. Over the last 24 hours, the community has really come together in an incredible way.

We can only say a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you. Your kindness and generosity mean more than words can express.

Firstly, everyone from Okehampton Fire Station would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas 🎄

As most of you start to wind down for the festive period, below are the opening times for us. We will remain on call to provide cover to the community and in an emergency, please call 999 🚒

As you celebrate your Christmas, please take a second to remember these safety tips:

🧑‍🍳 Don't leave your cooker unattended

🚙 The roads maybe busier than normal. So please allow more time for the journey and drive safely

🕯️ Don't leave candles burning over night or unattended near flammable items

📃 Avoid burning wrapping paper in the Fire place. It burns quick and can cause a chimney fire

Stay safe and have a wonderful Christmas 🤶

The crew tonight is joined by Danes Castle Fire Station - Exeter ALP (aerial ladder platform) to carry out some weeding on the towns clock tower, whilst also carrying out a WAH (working at height) drill with the crew.

Fore street is currently down to one lane and traffic is being controlled by Fire service personal. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause during this drill.

We are currently experiencing a high number of calls due to the hot and dry weather, and our crews have been dealing with multiple grass and verge fires across Devon and Somerset today.

Please be aware that bonfires can quickly get out of control and should be avoided in weather like this.

This serves as an important reminder to ensure that glass ornaments and mirrors are kept out of sunlight, particularly in this hot weather period.

What a day! Firstly thank you too everyone that came up to get their car wash at our charity event.

Thank you to the Fire Fighters Charity for getting our supplies from Autoglym, Richard from Motor Parts Direct Ltd Crediton and the Okehampton branch for the buckets, sponges and soap. Thank you to the staff from the Texaco garage for the refreshments and Mole Avon Country Stores Okehampton for allowing us to set up the car wash in the car park.

The grand total was £750 which will be spilt between Oke PADs and the Firefighters Charity.

Once again, thank you all 🙏
