Community Engagement at Made-Well CIC

On 8th May, officers from the Okehampton Neighbourhood Team had a fantastic time visiting Made-Well CIC for a morning of community engagement.

We enjoyed getting involved in a range of fun and interactive activities including:

🔍 Taking fingerprints
👕 Dressing up in police uniform
🚓 Exploring the police van – complete with blue lights and sirens!

It was a great opportunity to meet the service users, build positive relationships, and give an insight into policing in a relaxed and engaging way.

Thank you to everyone at Made-Well CIC for the warm welcome – we look forward to visiting again soon!

🌟 Inspiring the Next Generation on Online Safety 🌟

Okehampton Neighbourhood Policing Team has been proud to work alongside students from Okehampton College this term, delivering an important message about staying safe online to local primary schools.

The students developed a series of informative and imaginative performances that complemented and enhanced the online safety assemblies delivered by the police. Designed to reinforce key messages around staying safe online, these creative pieces helped younger pupils engage with the topic in an accessible and memorable way.

Before the Easter Holidays, the college students took their performances into nine primary schools, sharing them with children in Years 3, 4, 5, and 6. Their creativity, confidence, and willingness to share their own experiences made a real impact across the community.

The sessions didn’t stop at performances either! Pupils took part in lively discussions, asking questions and sharing their thoughts, making it a truly interactive and valuable experience for everyone involved.

A huge well done to all the students and staff involved — your hard work, teamwork, and community spirit have made a real difference. 👏

The neighbourhood policing team have been made aware of a recurring issue with loose dogs in the road in Sticklepath posing a hazard to road users.

We have attended an address in the local area on 26th March and issued 4 dog control orders on the owner of the involved animals which will encourage more responsible ownership.

Police have been responding to a report of a rave in the area of Witherdon Wood this morning 22nd March.

Various Police resources have been utilised to disperse the event and we will be continuing patrols through the area throughout the day to ensure there are no further issues for the community.

This is a timely reminder for residents across the West Devon area that as the weather is improving we seasonally experience an increase in this type of activity. If you have concerns that there is an Unlicensed Music Event taking place, please inform Police at the earliest opportunity so we can ensure safety of the public and reduce any nuisance experienced by residents in an affected area.

Some indicators of these events can include

Loud continuous music

Individuals cutting locks to gates / trespassing on land

Significant increase of both pedestrian / vehicle activity

Power generators and / or sound equipment being transported to rural areas

If you have information about an event such as this being planned in future then you can share this information via our force website
