Ormskirk Town Centre is packed with fantastic cars from across the years for MotorFest, running today from 11am–3pm! 🙌

All council-run town centre car parks are FREE 🅿️

Come along, enjoy the displays and make the most of a great day out in Ormskirk! 🚘

It's the final bank holiday of the summer and there's plenty on offer each day here in West Lancashire.

Tonight, support local community cinema at the Stanley Club in Burscough. Hoppers is the film, recently released by Disney Pixar and great for all the family. Tickets are only £3.50. Doors open at 6pm and the film starts at 6.30pm. Informal style of seating with tables and discounted food and drink.

UPDATE: Tomorrow the Family Fun Day at the Dog and Gun in Aughton has fallen victiom to the weather. However the reptiles are not deterred and will be on show at 4pm.

Sunday sees the return of the popular Ormskirk Motorfest. Many of the classic cars will be gathering at Brandreth Barn from 8.30am before a tour through parts of Burscough, Scarisbrick, Halsall, Aughton, Bickerstaffe and Lathom. The main event in Ormskirk town centre is from 11am to 3pm. All council town centre car parks are free of charge.

The long weekend rounds off on Monday with a car boot sale from 10am at Heaton's Bridge Inn in Scarisbrick or take a workout as the council's leisure centres will be open on Bank Holiday Monday in a new extension to the leisure offer.

Good news! The council have responded to resident feedback and Park Pool and Nye Bevan Pool will be OPEN on the August Bank Holiday! This is an extension to normal services.

🕗 Open: 8:00am - 6:00pm at Park Pool and 8.00am - 4.00pm at Nye Bevan.

Come along for a swim or a workout and make the most of the long weekend.

Good news! The council have responded to customer feedback and Park Pool and Nye Bevan Pool will be OPEN on the August Bank Holiday! This is an extension to normal services as we try to improve the offer to residents.

OWL continue to support and maintain our swimming pools. Tomorrow, a significant repair starts at Nye Bevan replacing aged pipework and removing asbestos in the plant room.

Remember, Labour would have used this damaged pipework as an excuse to shut the facility as they had already tried to do in February 2025.

Meanwhile, both pools outperformed financial expectations in the last year and plans for major investment have recommenced. Swimming has a future under OWL - something that Labour somehow forgot.

Fancy a film tonight? The Stanley Club Burscough is screening the iconic 'The Devil wears Prada' starting at 6.30pm. Doors open at 6 and tickets are £3.50. Tomorrow sees a community fundraiser at The Heatons Bridge with stalls and children's rides and even worm charming to enjoy! The Leisure Lakes are hosting a UV party on Saturday at 9.30pm and Hope Street are offering their usual Saturday lunchtime arts and crafts for kids. Have we missed your event? Ormskirk Motorfest returns 2 weeks today, Sunday 30 August and there's an opportunity to help out in the proverbial pits. The organising team are looking for 6 Marshals (3 in the park and 3 in the Town Centre) to marshal cars on arrival and departure (9-10.45) and 3-4pm). Marshals will receive final instructions in advance, and the Chief Marshal will brief them on the morning of the event.

Motorfest will provide refreshment vouchers and an Honorarium as a thank you for helping with the event. Please email [email protected] if this appeals to you and we will put you in touch with the organisers.

What’s on this weekend? ☀️

Today it’s the Mayor’s Family Fun Day at Coronation Park, Ormskirk, from 11am–4pm! 🎉

There’ll be plenty to enjoy, including live music, children’s activities, food and drinks, plus awards celebrating some of our amazing local heroes.

Even better, proceeds are going towards Hope Street Cafe in Ormskirk, supporting vital mental health and wellbeing services in our community.

So if you’re looking for something to do today, head down to Coronation Park and support a fantastic local cause while having a great afternoon!
